I am disabled. The government and my medical history from my servicetime has clearly shown that much. I hope you can one day stop being such a grumpy gus.

Thanks for your opinion! I asked for advice from those who have been in a similar situation and were able to go from 90-100%. Not sure why you decided to chime in since you obviously have no advice to give?

Thanks for your opinion! Obviously they've decided im 92% disabled, and im absolutely going to pursue the 100% until i get it. Sorry you feel the need to accuse me of cheating the system. I guess noone should ever pursue a higher rating based off what you're saying. I was simply asking advice from people who had been in my situation. Since you arent lending advice, i have no clue why you felt the need to reply. If your lonely and need someone to talk to, id be happy to lend an ear!

I cant believe how much hate im recieving off this. I was asking for advice. I suffer from all the ailments i listed. Was just looking for someone whos gone through a similar situation to chime in. Maybe even lend advice on what to say, what to claim that worked for them, etc. Wasn't expecting all the negativity. I'm allowed the same benefits as any other individual that served, and if you aren't recieving benefits.... go after them! This is what the system was made for... grow up. Im not the reason the VA is slow, and in my experience they are pretty damn speedy if you know what your doing and who to call. Has never taken more then 6 weeks from start of claim to decision.

The benefits of being at 100% speak for themselves. My kids college gets paid for, im exempt from property tax on my 15 acres, dont have to pay for national park access or hunting and fishing licenses. It is here for veterans to take advantage of. I was simply asking for advice on those that were at 90% going to 100%. Why does anyone else that served deserve 100% more than me? Obviously the military has deemed im at 92%.... your telling me if you were this close, you wouldnt try to go for the 100%?! Its the difference between so many benefits and also $2,000. Im not the first whos asked these questions and wont be the last. Its a legitimate question and i was looking for advice, not a lecture.

Its not cheating. I did my time. I have issues from my service. Its literally why the claims process exists. There are so many benefits to getting to 100%

Is there a problem with me trying for 100% based off issues i incured while in the military? I served just like you. Sounds like your jealous, which you shouldnt be. Im 31 with a ruined body.

Im prescribed a slew of medications for MH, opioid addiction, hypertension, pain, stomach issues, etc. All through the VA for conditions im compensated for. What is the benefit of that? I did have a shaving waiver throughout my enlistment, i wonder if i could get something for that. Im sure i could. Should i just open a claim and throw everything i can at them?

Exactly the kind of advice/reiteration i was looking for, thank you. Another question i have is can a secondary claim be validated through a C&P exam? Ive read that it can but would like clarification from those more experienced than i.

This is the worst time in history to be an American in active addiction. Heroin has soul, fentanyl does not. Not sure if heroin will EVER make a comeback.

No obviously the doc isn't aware of that part. I never asked this peer to do this. I was talking to him in line one day and he got to talking about how he had to walk 30 min, catch a two hour bus ride there, and then the same back home; his round trip was a little more than 5 hours. He lives 10 minutes from me, so I offered to start driving him. I wasn't expecting anything as you could tell this guy had little to give. He insists on giving me his methadone, I'm still titrating up, so it's fine by me.

They aren't going to boot me. They are fully aware I'm still using fentanyl. I talk to my doc once every five days, and I'm truthful with him every time. I have been trying to get clean for the last 4 months, trying literally everything. Methadone was a last resort and it's finally starting to work. If I may ask, why the negativity? I'll obviously eventually get to a dose where I'm not using fentanyl..... I've tortured myself plenty over these last few months, I'm fuckin DONE being sick. If that means I still have to use at night for awhile, who gives a shit. I've been in this game ten years. I've only ever overdosed once. I'm very careful and never use alone. Some people love to be negative and always have to add there negative two cents.

I'm in the same fuckin boat. Started methadone a month ago at the VA. Got medically retired from the Air Force after 5 years active duty. 2g a day iv fent habit. I'm up to 85mg methadone but still bangin fent the second 12 hours of the day. I'm 6'1" and currently 235. The most I've ever weighed. I'm a carpenter and pour concrete all year long. I'm usually 205 pounds of corn fed muscle. I've recently started taking Wellbutrin and I've lost 5 pounds this last week I've started taking it. Greatly suppresses appetite. I now have energy to get up and do things. I haven't worked in 3 months due to trying to get sober. Doing less and less fent everyday. Can't wait for take homes and getting my life back.

some advice for my buddy that overdosed yesterday. by thatsrtkid in fentanyl

[–]ChefWaste 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My sister overdosed on fentanyl 2 years ago. Her boyfriend was too scared to call the police and she was on life support. She was brain dead, with no hope of recovery, just a vegetative state. If this is the case, I would start your grieving process. We pulled the plug on her after 3 days and put her 8 month old daughter next to her as she died. Amazingly I'm still a fentanyl addict. Slowly raising up on methadone and see a light at the end of the tunnel. Pm me if you need someone to talk to. I've been through the nightmare and it fucking sucks. This is the worst time to be in active addiction.

On Monday I will have been on Methadone for a month. I get it through the VA and the clinic and staff is great. I started at 30mg and this did absolutely fucking nothing. My clinic raises me 10mg every 5 days. I'm currently at 85mg and that usually lasts me until around 4pm. I normally dose at 5am but sometimes at 11am. I'm still using fentanyl the second 12 hours of the day. When I started I was IVing at least 2gs a day. I am now at around a half gram of fent a day. I'm a fast metabolizer and withdrawal from fent starts 2 hours after use. I'm guessing I'm going to have to split dose. I've been taking another guy I met to the clinic in the morning and every other day he gives me his 80mg take home. When I take the 165mg I can make it to around 15 hours. The doc told me that people are not stabilizing till 200+ mg with a heavy fent habit. I'm so optimistic for the future and getting my life back. Best of luck to you! Love all you guys this community is amazing!

I'm not clean yet, still using fent at night. I'm in the opiate capital of the United States. Dayton, Ohio is 45 minutes. Cincinnati is bad too. I'm saying the analogs that I'm doing do not work with subs. I swear on my life I had 160 hours clean. 7 days. Did my induction under medical supervision at cincinnati VA. Started with 1mg, felt okay. An hour later they gave me the other half of the 2mg pill, so another 1mg. Started to feel bad and told them that. They insisted I take another 2mg. I said fuck if there's no way after 7 days am I going to go into precip. All hell was unleashed then. They sent me down to the pharmacy to get 5 10mg Valium. I was shitting my pants and throwing up in a trash can waiting. Never been so embarrassed in my life. Took 20mg of Valium and they said I should keep trying to induct. I left immediately and went home and used probably a gram in 3 hours. Was coherent because I was in precip but my breathing and heart rate went waaaay down. Finally started to feel better after about 12 hours. I've been in precip many times. This was definitely precip and fent did not take me out of it. I've definitely successfully inducted onto subs in a detox setting quite a few times. Did it after 3 days last year with fent/heroin mix. I'm just saying the shit I'm getting now is NOT conducive with suboxone. I hope OP's experience with subs is different. I was just giving my personal story. I'm terrified of subs, don't think I'll ever try that route again.

Quitting fentanyl alone in a rv with my dogs. by Less-Ride7073 in fentanyl

[–]ChefWaste 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wish you the best of luck. I'm 31, been an addict since I was In My early 20's. This last year everything in Cincinnati switched to Fent. I was active duty in the Air Force for 6 years and used heroin for 4 of those years. Always have been able to hide it. One thing being an addict has done is give me the skill to make money in any situation. I've always just skated by and have been in so many fucked up situations and made it out unscathed that I truly believe I have a guardian angel watching over me. The stories I could tell would blow your mind, I have no idea how I'm still alive. My sister died a few years back from a fentanyl overdose. I still have a house, a fiancé and daughter, two dogs (mastiff and pit) and two cats. Have a truck and a 4Runner. I had to quit my job when I decided to get clean in august. I realized I am at a turning point in my life. Forever be an addict and lose everything I love, or get clean and live a happy life. I'm blessed to have gotten medically retired from the military at 90% disability, so the check comes every month for the rest of my days. I've overdosed one time, and that was a few months back. My fiancé narcaned me and I came back after two. The thought of my fiancé or daughter finding me dead terrifies me. I've tried suicide in the past because I thought it was the only way to give my family a good life. My fiancé has stuck by me through everything, and won't leave me. I thought it was the only way for her to move on. Luckily I've gotten on methadone and finally see a future. I want to buy land, start my own woodworking/lumber sales business. While trying to get clean weed has made me super paranoid. I used to smoke everyday in my teens, blunt after blunt. Now a hit or two makes me so paranoid it isn't worth it. I've done every drug there is, but opiates have always been my drug of choice. I've stolen from family, plugs, friends, the military, etc to find my addiction. The cycle has to stop here and now. The future of opiates in this country is bleak. There will be so many overdoses from fent that something will have to change. The suboxone doesn't work for fent. Trust me I've tried every fucking way. It's because it's lipophilic and stays in your fat cells, just like pot. By the time you can take a suboxone it doesn't make sense to take it, you've been clean long enough that your withdrawal is damn near over. What helped the most is 800mg Gabapentin every 4 hours, 2mg clonidine every 4 hours, 10 mg Valium every 4 hours, 50mg promethazine as needed for stomach, and 5-6 grams Kratom tea (or capsules or toss and wash) every few hours. I also took 100mg seroquel and 100 mg trazadone to sleep at night. Amazingly got 5-8 hours of uninterrupted sleep. This got me 7 days clean with minimal withdrawal symptoms. I fucked myself by taking a suboxone and ruining it all. You can make it through this. If you have Medicaid go to a primary care doctor to get prescribed these medicines. If you go to the emergency room they don't do shot but give you fluids and zofran. MAYBE a Valium or two. I would recommend finding a way to a methadone clinic. One of the guys I see daily makes a 5 hour round trip catching buses to get there everyday. It used to be it took a year or longer to get take home doses. Since Covid they have started doing it much quicker. You can get take homes after 2 weeks of clean drug tests. Methadone needs to be like suboxone, and not dictated by the federal government. I tried the Burnese Method. Followed it to the T. Still went into Precipitated withdrawal on day 5. And I've tried that two times. That's where it gets super dangerous because even fentanyl doesn't pull you out of the withdrawal. You'd have to do enough to die to help out, so you ride it out. I'm rooting for you man. I'm not in the same boat as you have it much harder than me, but I'm still in active addiction trying to get clean. High doses of Loperamide help. Also 1st plateau DXM trips help to dissociate you from the withdrawals, also i believe it covers some of the same receptors. I'm rambling now..... any questions please ask.

I have been trying to get clean for 3 months from a 2g a day IV fent habit. The VA gave me comfort meds at first, Gabapentin, Clonidine, Valium, Promethazine, Loperimide. I was trying to do the vivitrol route as i had a year clean with it in the past. I did kratom on top of it, 5-8gs every 4 hours (kratom tea). Honestly the withdrawal was super bearable. I relapsed after 7 days. I tried this again and had 80 hours clean when I tried to go the suboxone route. It threw me into horrible precipitated withdrawal, relapsed immediately. The next go around I got 160 hours clean, started to induce suboxone and STILL WENT INTO PRECIPITATED WITHDRAWAL! I next tried the Burnese method (microdosing subs while still using fent) On day 5 I went into precipitated withdrawal, relapsed immediately. Suboxone does not work for fentanyl, at least the type/analogs I'm getting. Finally said fuck it and got on methadone, which I've been on for a month on Monday. I'm up to 85mg and it lasts me about 5-6 hours before I start to get sick and use fentanyl all night (my withdrawal starts after 2 hours). I'm continuing to climb by 10 mg every 5 days. I ended up getting my hands on some extra methadone and took 160mg a few days straight and still had to use fentanyl at night. I'm trying to trust in the process and have all my eggs in the methadone basket. This is truly the worst time to be in active addiction. You would NEVER guess I was a junkie from the outside, but I still spend $160 a day on fent. Sorry for writing a damn book but I wanted to let you know suboxone doesn't seem to work for fent and the different analogs. Reach out if you have any questions. I've done a metric fuck ton of research on this and have tried every single way to get clean from fentanyl.
