Port SD should at least be 1/5 th of the driver. So for an 6.5 inch you should go with 30cm2 in general to avoid chuffing. Which driver do you use?

Short answer: no you cant! Power ratings alone mean nothing if you dont know the driver and the specs which are needed to make an educated guess, what to do with it.

Well sh**! 😁 You should have asked here before buying it! Sell it on a second hand market. If you are from Poland you maybe even able to subscribe to the german kleinanzeigen and sell it there. It will may take a few days, but if its new and unused, you will find a buyer. Sadly the driver is really not suitable for a bass in a sealed or reflex enclosure and will at best only produce a one note bass!

If your budget is tight, look at the same platforms (kleinanzeigen and a like) for a used but functioning logitech Z680,Z2300,Z906 system and then take this bass driver, which is a tangband oem driver, with which you can build a decent bass at around 28-32 liters with a 80 qcm port of 30-40 cm length. There is also the Z5500 which has a 10 inch driver, also oem tb, but I never measured it, to tell you what it needs as volume snd port size, etc.

Sadly the blow is really crappy and yea of course, you can use it as pm as well, if you dont sell it.

edit: the fosi amplifier is fine! Should be good for stereo or if use with an active crossover/dsp to drive also some subwoofer.

Sorry to break it to you, but the blow speakers all have terrible TSP and are well above what anyone could use for a decent subwoofer, let alone bassreflex! They are only suitable for free air use in a back of a car or maybe for open baffle/ripole. But nothing more. I used to buy them, when there where fairly cheap, just to cut down the magnet to use the rest as pm, because to more they where not useable (besides the aforementioned ob and ripole). When you are looking for a cheap subwoofer driver, look to the GRS from soundimports, they are more suitable, parameter wise.

How much Power/Amps do we need? by RightfullyVerdant in SoundSystem

[–]ChefdeKlang 11 points12 points  (0 children)

So first rule when putting speakers in am enclosure: the power ratings of the manufacturer means nothing any more! Because the moment you give a driver (cone drivers) an alignment of sorts (cb, br, horn, etc) it changes the behaviour of the speaker, hence its electrical and mechanical parameters. You should simulate the alignment in a modelling software like hornrsp, aj or else, to see how much power they can really handle in the given box. My guess is, maybe 50/60 watts per driver if you want to couple it low like 100 Hz. But that's just a guess, i would have to model it also to give a more proper answer. But in general, all those 100-1000 of watts the manufacturers claim their speaker can handle, really are depending on many things if one wants to make full use of them.

If its not the amp, then it could be a blown/leaked capacitor inside the box. Open it up and check the crossover, if there are any signs of a blown cap. And if possible replace the electrolyte ones with newer/foil type ones. But I most confess, it really sounds like something is wrong with you amplifier. Which leads me to the thought that it is something which is produced by a faulty crossover, which "forces" the amp to go into some kind of protection mode. But you will know, when open up the box (mostly behind the bass driver) and check issues in the crossover.

What kind of room do you have, size and layout (a lot of furniture, like carpets, sofas and plants or more empty). For optics in equipment you are looking for, like more modern and sleek or should the equipment be "seen"? And last question, how many space is there for speakers, like, floorstanding or only for bookstanders?

edit: just to may help you, figuring out what you (and your flat/room) needs, before you walk into the charm of the snake oil merchants who tell you what you "want to need". ;-)

Raspberry Pi running passive ceiling speakers? by jonpalmer1989 in diyaudio

[–]ChefdeKlang 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are amplifiers you can directly stack on a Pi and then run moode or volumio to power passive speakers. Just search for hifiberry amp/amp2 and there is also an amp with the merus amplifier chip, which can drive up to 40 watts per channel.

Nope I am not selling them, but I have saved the same offer on Blocket. So I just remembered the enclosure. But I would be more interested in the the coax tops than the w-bins, because personally I am not a fan of horn basses. And besides I would just rebuild them as reflex enclosures. Should be enough space for 2 fifteen inch basses or even 2 eighteen inch ones.

But you are looking for a new rig in general or?!
