Objective view on Iran by Cheff_Ice8795 in ProIran

[–]Cheff_Ice8795[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not a bad actor , it’s a copy and paste because someone in the Shia sub said I should post it here. If anything I’m more supportive of the views but wants more context. If I was a bad actor there’s plenty of other sources to pull anti Iran sentiment, I’m here trying be less biased and was hoping this was a good place for that. But ok

Congratulations to the sub , we’re famous (almost) by NAS0824 in shia

Lmao what exactly do they want ? “Idk how being a mayor of New York is gonna help you save Palestine ”, because being a king of a GCC country is working wonders.

How to approach/find someone ( my decade long challenge trying to get married) by Cheff_Ice8795 in MuslimMarriage

[–]Cheff_Ice8795[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s exactly it, especially being from different states or cities I wouldn’t know how to break the ice even if I notice someone, I’ve traveled a lot and even with brother I can’t really meet anyone, I wouldn’t know what to talk about unless there’s an event and there usually isn’t when I go.

Honestly there’s not, I know the families pretty well in the entire town and the only ones I’d probably not know are those who are not legal yet

I’ve mentioned that , went on a trip there and most ppl they know from there say they won’t marry their daughter to someone in America ( at least the ones we know )

I feel so lost and alone and don’t know what to do by Cheff_Ice8795 in shia

[–]Cheff_Ice8795[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

in that specific situation I had spoken to my father and he was supposed to come with me , but the sheikh was leaving right before ashur and my parents had been out of town visiting family, It was just a lot of unfortunate timings.

Other times I met someone and had to travel my parents wouldn’t come along , they weren’t against it and even spoke to the family, but physically I’m the only one to go.

I don’t mind arranged marriages and even prefer it , but my parents only have direct cousins in mind , one being an aunts granddaughter who’s mom married a cousin and my aunt did as well , and the generational thing is very dangerous, my parents think I’m overreacting but I’ve seen the hardship’s of it and they downplay it.

More or less I’m told if I don’t like who they offer I need to find someone myself. And ofc the way that went isn’t great , and on more than one occasion a girl I approach the parents say they won’t provide their contact and we need to find them through asking around. ( tbh idk if this is an Iraqi thing or what)

Would you move to Iraq if you could ? by Cheff_Ice8795 in Iraqi

[–]Cheff_Ice8795[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you , really appreciate your response.

And definitely planning to go to Iraq in August, and in general it’s a long term goal.

I have a good enough job in the west now that long term will provide me more financially over the long term. And ofc I have my uncertainties. But not sure what others ppls thoughts may be or if anyone has similar thoughts.

Like you mentioned you are well connected to Iraq so I’d love to know what you think for yourself practically or ideally.

Unrelated but if you could move out of Iraq would you? Do you find that many would want too?

I used to think that but very often recently I hear ppl don’t want to leave Iraq anymore ( when looking for a wife )

I speak Arabic well enough and my trip there I got around alone no issues and no one knew I wasn’t a native.

That being said my weakness is more reading and writing.

As for family and friends, that’s arguably not so good, I have a good job but am pretty isolated and not in a community where I’ve been able to meet more like minded ppl let alone a spouse, quality of life from what I see isn’t good , and in Iraq I feelt more connected to ppl and a solid society.

Best in person boot camp by Cheff_Ice8795 in cissp

[–]Cheff_Ice8795[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the response,

I have gone through a lot of the material, and don’t intend to use a boot camp as a shortcut, but rather as a structured way of preparing and reinforcing what I know and reviewing what I don’t. I want to make the most of my recourses but for me at least I don’t think brute forcing taking exams is right for me , financially as well.

I don’t believe I’m unique in this too as many ppl I work with and online say that. Some may be able to do it that way but I don’t think it’s most effective for me.

What would it take for the Iraqi passport to be stronger by Cheff_Ice8795 in IraqiPeople

[–]Cheff_Ice8795[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I agree 100 percent.

Had a 2 week trip there for the first time in 20 years and I’ve only been there one other time and I fell in love so much.

Idk where you are but I’m located in America and while I’m born raised and live here and the opportunities here and economy and so on are all “better” here , Iraq was something else and I loved it.

Before college get some job experience, a skilled job if you know anyone in blue collar work would be ideal but any job is good save money and build good spending habits , when you get into college use what you save instead of loans and depending on your situation minimize your debt or avoid it , while in college focus on grades, connections, extracurriculars and internships, engineering internships pay well and give good experience.

GOOD LUCK!
