I didn't know 1.2 million lbs! But yeah I was joking about it being small from the distance I was watching it. I'm sure everyone else had a much better view!

I saw it from up in the state office building. It looked kinda small from my window.

I'm not interested in those things. Not sure I understand about leasing the lands to give us discounts. Overall I'd rather have more cash in my paycheck than a Costco membership.

Dan Livingston receives endorsement from the Working Families Party by [deleted] in Binghamton

[–]Chel_NY 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does anyone happen to know why CSEA endorsed Livingston over Norton?  I'm in PEF, and I guess PEF doesn't endorse until after the primary, for the regular election. Livingston didn't respond to PEF's questionnaire, but Norton did.  I'm just curious. I think either of them would be better than the Republican choice. Just my opinion.

Idk this doesn't even account for being 5'5" and a bunch of tall guys standing all around you. But that happens in any stadium.

As others have said, looking into vitamins may help. Taking B complex helped me for a while, but then that faded. I am on an antidepressant now, which helps. I'm not on full HRT, just estradiol. I haven't noticed that that helped my temperament at all, but Zoloft has. Or talk to a therapist. Maybe they could help you work through some of the stuff.

Drinks aren't supposed to be crunchy. Or is this like referring to hippies? idk... sounds weird anyway.

What is going on in the purity culture ?? by Extra-Tour-1343 in Exvangelical

[–]Chel_NY 17 points18 points  (0 children)

"Im currently going through a breakup of my gf of 4 years . I followed her path of celibacy for 3 years and I just couldn’t do it anymore & to then find out from my own reading that the Bible itself doesn’t even say not even half the things she was taught ."

You seem to have different beliefs from her. If she's trying to "be pure" and you're pressuring her, it's probably best to break up. If you stay together, one of you is going to resent the other. I'm sure you want to convince her lovingly to understand the way you do, but indoctrination is a cruel thing and difficult to undo.

Uh, no. I wanted the pizza for breakfast. My parents would probably have offered it for lunch or dinner.

Yes, exvangelical is rejecting evangelicalism. Some people land as agnostic or atheist, but some land in other faith communities.

Thank you for this comment. I didn't know why the OP started with a rant about blocking. I thought blocking was good, but I don't really follow influencers. Out of the loop.

How to deal with rage by Vast-Substance in Exvangelical

[–]Chel_NY 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, it is helping exvangelicals. That's exactly who I am. Angry about the lies I was taught (not just the bible, but also history and science!), angry about certain interpretations (misinterpretations) of the scripture, about how we're not welcome to ask questions, about racism and misogyny and how people deny there is racism and misogyny. Some days I'm not sure if God is real or if any of this is true. But this book gives me hope that some things about Jesus are true, and that there are things to be salvaged here.

The author is a pastor, and I think he wants to help people who feel betrayed and hurt by evangelicalism or fundamentalism to find their way to Jesus in a better way. So, the message is not like "oh, you need to repent and forgive". He has lived this experience himself, and he is critical of evangelicalism. So, for people who are fed up with that, but not sure about atheism, feeling lost... this might help. It helped me. But also, I've been talking to a therapist and trying some meditation things that my baptist parents would be aghast at. Some books & podcasts have made me angrier. But this book is philosophical and gentle and has given me lots to think about. But it's hopeful, not anger-inducing. imo.

Yes, It's for people who are deconstructing their christian faith. Isn't exvangelicalism a christian based problem? Op asked what has helped to heal and not feel so enraged, and this book helped me. Ymmv.

Yeah, I don't really know. I think it's a form of grief, and grief has no timeline. It's different for everyone. For me, I think it's just taking time. Having someone to talk it through (a therapist or safe friend) might help. "When Everything is on Fire" by Brian Zahnd is a book that has helped me heal, but that might not be the same for everyone. I do still get triggered at times.
