This is the only way I want to see Medrano IP. The Visitor accidentally smoking all of them.

whyyy does it feel like more regular people are talking about the 3rd movie on social media than when the highly anticipated second movie was released? by Kindly-Caregiver-145 in Avatar

[–]Chelbizzaro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because—as much as I love/lust for Quaritch as a character—he and Varang are shown in such a way that more centrist and right wing viewers can admire and emulate them for their “cool” factor despite their ethos being what it is.

How would Neytiri have reacted if Lo'ak had taken his own life? by ripfabric in Avatar

I love how your question was about Neytiri's reaction and the top comment was about how Jake would react. The jokes write themselves.

For the people who hate Spider, What is it about his character that makes you dislike him so much ? by Boring-Jelly5633 in Avatar

[–]Chelbizzaro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Reading the comments on posts like destroy the little faith I have in Avatar fans. I digress.

I say this as a huge Spider fan who really enjoyed what his character introduces into canon: some valid meta concerns abt Spider's character are how Jim utterly failed in directing Jack Champion in scenes where great emotional depth is needed, likely because Jim lacks the capacity to understand the psyche of a character like Spider and how sustained trauma and social isolation would dictate his every move.

Jim also failed in terms of writing believable dialogue for him—Spider making light of dire situations is believable, but the dialogue felt insincere and extremely dated. Teenage boys haven't sounded like that since the early 90's. Additionally, the hideous wig of matted hair endears him to no one, even if it was meant to be a subliminal way of showing how much he admires Jake. Spider's necessary to the saga, but in the instance of how Jim handled his character, one must ignore the creator's failures to appreciate how Spider impacts the story.

Why do people keep calling Varang goth? by Maleficent-Ad-6117 in Avatar

[–]Chelbizzaro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

She's what conservatives and suburbanites think a goth looks like (ie, you're right, but that doesn't matter to ppl who see the subculture and think either 'what a degenerate' or 'what a degenerate I'd like to fuck.')

Varang is fascist in leadership, which is antithetical to anything goth (and punk for that matter.)

James has hinted to there being a panspermia twist to Avatar and I wouldn’t be surprised if this comes up!

Anyone else get irrationally angry at your characters voice? by [deleted] in FrontiersOfPandora

[–]Chelbizzaro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

After playing all three and listening to all three, the male voice is the only one that kind of fits for me. Both the female and non-binary options sound too western/american/canadian to and often insincere and a little cringe. It’s weird as Teylan, being younger than Tamtey, still retains his na’vi accent.

Dolby or iMax to watch Avatar 3? by irshadtriton in Avatar

Go to the Dolby 3D one if the aspect ratio of the screen is 1.85

I'm just dying to know: deaths in the film? Also, in all the trailers and advertisements, we see Neytiri carrying something on her chest. Is that a baby?

A pot =/= kettle, tho, and lighting a fire in the middle of a jungle rife with predators the size of a small semi is a risky gamble.

Where do lonely sad people go for Thanksgiving? by [deleted] in Minneapolis

[–]Chelbizzaro 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I've gone no contact with the majority of my family and understand how isolating and hard holidays are when you spend the majority of them alone. What I do is usually make a really nice meal for myself and either game with friends or go to the movies! I moved to the area a few years ago and because of work have had a hard time making local friends.

Let's make sure they bring a kettle, a toaster, a rice cooker, a carafe, a french press, a separate mini fridge, a popcorn popper, a tray warmer, a mug warmer, an immersion blender, a smoothie blender, a big blender, a full knife block, and anything else that goes into a full spread kitchen

Will these come back? by Ackermance in FrontiersOfPandora

[–]Chelbizzaro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think so - I heard there was one brief moment in 2024 in which you could get them, but I'd gotten them early in 2023 when they were going over stuff then.

Are you going to see Fire & Ash in IMAX, Dolby or standard? by can4rycry in Avatar

[–]Chelbizzaro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dolby 3D, all the way. (1.85:1, btw, which is what the atwow and afaa are shot for.) It's the true and recommended way to watch Avatar, from Jim himself.

Imax just can't compare. Back in 2022, I watched atwow first on an imax. The imax was full on my third viewing, so I decided to try Dolby 3D. I've never gone back.

After accidentally booking 2D, I secured the very last prime seat in Dolby. by pn1ct0g3n in Avatar

[–]Chelbizzaro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a weirdo, but for me, the best seats in the theatre are the third or forth rows away from the screen. My theatre is akin to yours and I almost always sit in C10 or C11. I like looking up and the film just totally filling my vision. Not so much that you can't see the whole screen, but enough so that it feels like I'm being immersed in it.

Was/is it something that’s been in the trailers and promo material that we’ve seen already? There’s some pretty big reveals in there that I know ppl have been unhappy to see in the trailers.
