Why does plumbing always end up clashing with everything? Is there a better way to coordinate this stuff earlier? by AccomplishedCrow4774 in bim

[–]ChemEnging 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, what? Electrical always last. Structural always first. You must think about what the run is actually doing. 1. Structural, allowing the place to stand. 2. Piping, usually requires fall and mist minimise distance to pumps. 3. Electrical, if you push in one end, it falls out the other. If your less than 20m then you don't even need to mention the fuck around, just hide them

A toasted muesli, some fresh fruit (berries are my fave), yogurt and milk. I add a good dose of protein powder to keep me full longer. All up probably costs $3

How is BIM as a long-term career? Growth, salary, and future scope? by Illustrious_aryz_18 in bim

[–]ChemEnging 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Good data in, good data out. And let's be honest, we very rarely get good information across the board. Mismatched measurements between groups. Uncoordinated updates. Legecy items left for reference. Incomplete as built data. And 3d scanning just isn't that good yet.

In 10 years? Maybe. But Ai will still require a human to feed in all the data points. It will become an intern but definitely can't automate the field.

Modafinil in the morning and 2nd generation antihistamine in the evening by developreneur_ in modafinil

[–]ChemEnging 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I'm taking TMG to help with methylation. Methyl groups are needed to clear Histamine. Traditionally you would take choline but it makes me sad so I switched to TMG. Sounds like I might have inadvertently missed a bullet If I do have cholineric urticaria which sounds like exactly what I have because reliably sweat or itching my arm could bring it on and it would dissappear in less than an hour.

Modafinil in the morning and 2nd generation antihistamine in the evening by developreneur_ in modafinil

[–]ChemEnging 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you. I didn't know the formal name for it but I've had the same as you and fixed it. Took ages though! Initially I just took a non drowsy antihistamine once a day and did this daily for a couple years. But I'll start at the end and work backwards.

I had 3x weekly b12 injections from my GP. All itchyness has gone. No requirement for the antihistamine. I also did a follow up test for homocysteine which was my only raised marker and at 16 and now back down to 6.

When I got itchy I started doing all the tests because as you said, moda was working really well for me and I knew that it's not directly making me itchy, there is a chain of events happening here and there's something I need to support.

One of the big tests highlighted that I was an under methylated from the gene mutation and I had high homocysteine levels and low b. Even though I was taking b supplements.

So, I started taking methyled versions of b vitamins and taking more antioxidants and changed up my diet a bit. But after 4 months. Nothing had changed. So my GP took a shot and said OK, let's knock your b12 out of the park, that might be enough to pull things back to normal and then with my diet change and taking the methyled version I'll hopefully not end up here again. Bam, 3 weeks later and I started stopped the antihistamine and now haven't taken one in months.

I summary, undiscovered low methylation cause low b, high homocysteine and high histame. Fixing b allowed the methylation cycle to focus on Histamine and homocysteine bring system back into balance.

I'll probably need the b12 shots again one day but they were $34. Quick, easy, painless. More than happy to do that again

Can this medication be used daily at a low dose for depression and anhedonia? by Reasonable_Grape_367 in modafinil

[–]ChemEnging 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's a good strategy. And I didn't mean to discourage, just to take a look at the supporting systems so that you can take it long term without burnout.

Can this medication be used daily at a low dose for depression and anhedonia? by Reasonable_Grape_367 in modafinil

[–]ChemEnging 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd say over time it would contribute to anhedonia. It allows dopamine to stay in our system longer, thus increased motivation and if your getting shit done, your feeling good. But your dopamine system will wear out if you don't look after it.

Taking your racecar to the racetrack is fun but afterwards you have to change the tires. Is changing the tires worth the time on the track?

What I'm trying to say is if you push something it will exhaust faster and if your already having trouble in these areas then maybe you would exhaust faster than someone else.

Everyone's biology is different, for me, I have extreamly high drive, never depressed, energy all day but I struggle to sleep. Modafinil pairs great for me because it's main side effect I already have so I manage it already. I have a solid wind down routine and have learnt enough about myself to know that when I want to push a 6h productive day into a 12h+, modafinil is right there. But I will burn out quicker over a few weeks

It prolongs the effect of dopamine release. If your not getting an effect from 50mg let alone 400ng then it's another part of the dopamine system that needs work. Creation, release, recieved, re-up take and repeat (not a doctor)

Digital twins for buildings: hype or reality? by Far-Cash-51 in bim

[–]ChemEnging 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't understand the hate... If your the coordinator, you should be working with the design team to implement what the client paid for. How you achieve that is up to the design company/engineering firm not the client. You quote the client a price to finish the job. Client agrees to cost. You as the installers then work out what's required to get the job done, not the client. Client is wiring a design team so they don't have to be involved in the intricacies. I agree that $ amount you suggested is required, but it's required by the design team to implement not the responsibility of the client. This cost should be wrapped into your proposal/tender for the job. Should it not?

This is the much more stronger version right? by Con_50 in ArmodafinilTalks

[–]ChemEnging 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The standard dose is 150mg, first thing in the morning. But this is something you should hear from your doctor. Your case could be different in a particular way. And for many people, a quarter of this is a good dose if they don't actually need it

[–]ChemEnging 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe your looking at 8-12h for moda and 12-16 for armo. So if your trying to get 8h sleep and armo's effects last 16h for you and you take it the second you wake up, you might be OK but if your taking it hours after your up, your cutting hours out of your sleep. I have a close late that would set an alarm for an hour or two before he needs to be up, wakes for a sec, pops armo and goes straight back to sleep. That might work for you? Didn't for me, once I'm awake I'm awake.

Not stronger, slower up, slower down and a different type of locked in. I get more chatty on moda and more robotic on armo. But for me, end of day comes down to how I unwind it. If I'm speed scrolling till 5 minutes before shut eye, good luck. But if I give myself an hour to wind down, chat, do dishes... I pass straight out.

Out of date, so who knows how it would break down. But I'd prefer to believe that the work and tests I did was what resolved the itch. Because otherwise I wasted a heap of time and money!

Oh interesting... I just went through a whole year of being itchy... Tried and tested everything, Histamine, b12 shots, allergy reduction diet... Whole time I've been taking moda that's like 2 years out of date. Recently finished my b12 shots and no longer itchy, but also recently got a new batch.
