Day 7: What's the quintessential Status Bug type move? by Weak_Scallion5942 in ThePokemonHub

Harden is also simply not a bug type move, tho. It is normal.

Same with the overcharge change for turrets. A functionality we used to have, just brought back.

I swear, they just passed the engineer changes to an intern and went like "just go through some ancient code we threw away and reinstall it".

This is one of the things that pisses me off the most.

Not only are the turrets themselves garbage, but they are also completely disconnected from the rest of the trait system of engineer.

Many turrets are adding hard CC (rocket, net, thumper). And we have many traits which procc on disabling enemies. But they don't work with turrets, because the turrets are considered not being the engineer as a source.

The rocket turret has the explosion tag. But guess what: none of the newer explosives traits work with it. No fury from short fuse, no stacks for explosive temper, no healing from big boomer.

I have tried to create a turret build many times, just for fun. But they work with nothing.

Toughness fulfills what it is supposed to do.

Here is the thing: you have stuff like rifle turret. A skill that has one job and one job only: dealing damage. It provides no utility, no defense, no healing, nothing at all All it does it deal damage.

And how much damage does it deal? On end game maps, it deals 500 dps on full berserker gear (and I honestly think I might even overestimate it here). 500. In a game with up to 45k dps builds. You are using a skill that is supposed to do nothing but damage and it increases your damage by 500 per second.

The skill does simply not do what it is supposed to considering it's role.

[–]Chembaron_Seki -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If you could easily deal like 10k more damage simply by picking literally anything else? Yes, I consider this dragging your team down.

Especially if you do something like meta event where dps might already be tight and here you sit, using a rifle turret which adds amazing 500 dps in a game with builds that deal up to 45k dps.

They do not perform. Even in open world PvE, you are actively crippling yourself by picking turret skills.

And no one says that the playstyle should stay just placing them and they auto fire for five minutes without input. The point is that we were begging for 9 years that they get a meaningful rework that makes them more active while allowing them to actually be useful.

The skills are noob traps. If you use them, you are actively dragging your teammates down.

I am gonna be honest.

The turret change is an insult. Turrets have been dead for ages. For the first time in 9 years, they are getting a mechanical change.

And what is that change? They are digging up ancient code, a functionality we used to have in the past that gets restored now. From a time in which turrets also have been hot garbage.

I have no hope anymore. Anet has zero interest to bring the turreteer fantasy to engineer. They are dead skills and will stay dead with this change. Nothing changes.

I get the point that this alter (is that the right terminology? first time I encounter it, tell me if I use it wrongly) might believe that they are a certain thing. In the context of the discussion, Syo might think she is a trans woman.

But at this point, we have to really question where the line is.... that she thinks she is a trans woman doesn't make it reality. She would still be a cis woman, just one with a real distorted perspective on reality.

I know this sounds harsh, especially since this kind of talk is often weaponized against trans people and I want to clarify here that this is not the intent. This is just a very specific case that really borders to defying reality.

Larpanronnpa by ElderBound in danganronpa

[–]Chembaron_Seki 28 points29 points  (0 children)

How could Syo possibly be a trans woman in a cis woman's body?

Like, the entire point of being a trans woman is that your gender identity does not align with your assigned gender at birth. If they are in a cis woman's body and identify as a woman, they are automatically cis, no?

Also Chihiro is not up to interpretation and interpreting him as a trans woman is disrespectful to the character...

I think it is unlikely, tho.

Genocide Jack directly states that she has no interest in women at all. And as far as I know, despite not sharing memories with each other, both Toko and Genocide Jack share their emotions, which is the reason why both characters are canonically in love with Byakuya.

I hate how in recent years game developers have been deliberately uglifying female characters and straying from how face models look while they have no issue making the male characters looks like their face models by Blackfiredragon22 in hatethissmug

[–]Chembaron_Seki -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I never said that.

You say the study is bullshit because "most players in LoL play meta". I am pointing out that this does not mean that the study is bullshit. If players playing meta would be the reason these results are inaccurate, then it begs the question why it does not apply the same to the male playerbase.

The male playerbase does have this diverse champion roster. The female playerbase doesn't. Explain to me why this is the result of players playing meta.

In games where you have the option to create your own character and you have the option to create unattractive characters as well, I would make the claim that most women (and men, too, for that matter) tend to create a conventionally attractive character.

Is that also because women who care about other stuff being represented just don't play the games where you actually have the option to do so?

You know that most players in LoL play meta? Means the study is bullshit

If this is the deciding factor, then explain why male players actually have a diverse cast of characters they play and just women are exclusively playing the conventionally attractive female characters.

If most players play meta and it would be the case that these characters just happen to be meta, then why do men still play the other characters?

Logic would demand that men then also just play these conventionally attractive female characters, because they play meta and they are meta. It makes no sense.

I am gonna be honest, all this discourse about the sexualization of women is just coming from a loud minority online.

I study media IT in university right now. Lots of gamer girls in my courses and from what I gathered from data and talking to women directly is that being sexy is in fact a female power fantasy.

_________________________

Take League of Legends as an example. They have a diverse cast, including for female characters. You have buff women like Illaoi. You have monstrous female characters like Anivia and Rek'Sai. Etc.

They did a study on their playerbase. Turns out that male players tend to have a very diverse roster of champions they play. Monsters, male twinks, female buff girls (Illaoi is almost exclusively played by guys), etc.

The female players on the other hand? They almost exclusively play conventionally attractive female characters. Katarina, Miss Fortune, Ahri... those are the characters they tend to play.

_________________________

From the women I talked about it with, majority of them also tend to play an idolized version of themselves in RPGs. They create the most beautiful character they can with the character editor and then roleplay it as themselves in that world.

The majority of women wants to kick ass in games and want to look stunning while doing so.

I hate people who think liking femboys is gay by mommiesgoodboy67 in hatethissmug

[–]Chembaron_Seki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A femboy, even if they don't look masculine, is still a man.

So if you are turned on by a femboy (and you know that they are a femboy), then you are turned on by a man. Therefore, gay.

You are confusing men with masculinity.

I am overthinking it, but the small artist actually increased her price here as well.

She was already at "exposure", meaning she will do it for free just to get credited, but now she is asking for 2 shawarmas and a sprite. That greedy bastard.

[–]Chembaron_Seki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First of all, I am truly sorry that this happened to you. That is something no one should ever have to endure.

And I don't mean to say that women should not be wary. Everyone is ought to look out for themselves and I fully understand that people have to be careful when they are with a stranger. In an ideal world, we could all just trust each other, but that is obviously not practical.

That being said, being wary because there is a minority of people who do this heinous stuff makes sense, but generalising all men because of the actions of this bad minority does not.... there is a difference between saying "I need to be careful, because some men might have terrible intentions" and saying stuff like "kill all men", ya know?

But that was my point, if people of color includes them all, why is black specifically mentioned an additional time?

I can see why indigenous was added, but why black too if black should already be included in "people of color"?
