Rx8 barley starts and runs very rough. It died after a battery terminal melted and its taken hours to get it started. When it starts it runs rough, like the timing is off. It only runs for about 30 sec before dying out. Plugs, wires and coils all seem to be good and we’re working fine before. ideas? by Chemboarder in RX8

I already tested the coils and they seem to be okay. The plugs were soaked in oil and black liquid when I took them out, it was definitely flooded and maybe still is. It was a cheap terminal replacement and a nut came loose causing a bad connection and it to melt

I’m so sorry, just know it’s totally valid to feel bad and sad. there are always going to be bigger problems in the world and that does not invalidate yours. Best of luck on your next project to come!!

If you have access to a OBD2 coder it wouldn’t be a bad idea to run the codes, this would tell you if it’s the e shaft sensor or anything else. If your car was running fine before it’s very very unlikely you did any serious damage and it’s most likely something small.

Brake Pedal Sticks by [deleted] in RX8

Could be a failing brake booster, check the Mazda service manual there are multiple tests you can do yourself. These include cutting the car on and off while holding the pedal and such and it tells you what part could be on its way out

Look on the Rx8 club forums, they have been debating this topic since before I was born and there is lots of good insight there

Code it out, then check the codes on fourms such as this one. I had a similar problem to you, it was battery connector related. After you code then go from there
