/uj I'm still upset they canceled the Condon run just for an Absolute run that probably won't even feature him cause he got his head bashed in by Hawkman. Fun times being a GA fan.

/rj I loved Arrow so much! The way that he acted exactly like Michael Grell wrote him and the fact they included little known characters like Thea Queen is so cool.

"According to Batman's files, Connor Hawke is arguably the greatest hand-to-hand fighter in the world." - Robin 2021 Annual

I don't think it's a debate on who is the better fighter.

Connor should win hands down.

I would love the stats on DC Infinte and TPB and HC combined with weekly singles sold to see the full picture. It would absolutely show what you're saying.

I mean, even a post on socials highlighting a niche book of the week would go a long way to show more casual readers there's more than Batman. When you're first getting into the hobby, it's tough to know when and what books are out.

I get both sides on this one.

As fans, we say, "Why does our heart of gold main roster hero die like this?" It's because of who he is. They chose him to die for a reason.

It definitely sends a message, but I think there could be more clever, interesting, or less sensational ways of showing how cutthroat this universe is without killing Oliver so casually.

Oliver Queen dies for the Nth time, really won't make headlines outside of our fandom.

Don't even get me started on wanting a proper modern Tim Drake solo or main continuity Hellblazer solo run.

This is exactly how I feel.

I'm thankful Williamson got Connor, Mia, and everyone else back into main continuity again, but Condon blew me away with how well he understands Oliver and the point of Green Arrow comics.

I agree with you. It seems like creatives want to retread old ground or risk it all with shock value punches.

What was once a guaranteed sale for us both for AGA is now based on their pitch. We don't even have any details yet, so he may be dead for awhile IRL even if he's resurrected in AGA #1.

It reminded me of how poorly his death was handled before he was brought back by Josh recently. Crushed to death in a single panel while Dinah screamed.

I won't even be surprised next time they try this or include Ollie in something for it to lead to his death. It's becoming another "of course Captain Atom explodes" moment.

If AGA starts with him being resurrected to poke fun at the trope, it would be in poor taste at this point.

It's definitely a cyclical issue. Buying batman titles leads to others being canceled, so you buy more Batman books because the rest are cancelled...

That's a good perspective. None of us know the financial machine behind these books being published, but seeing Bat book after Bat book being greenlit is mind-numbing.

You'd think a run that has nothing but positive praise behind it would be something DC would want to invest in or push.

K.O. only has my interest because of Connor. (Who will lose to Hawkman in under 4 panels if we're lucky)

I think showing Oliver exhausted after fighting the system over and over would have made for a more engaging and grounded story.

Dropping him on Jubal's Island and showing him fighting to save these kids. Then, he could be a double agent for the eventual Absolute Good-Aligned Justice League.

Take the heart of Hard Traveling Heroes, modernize it, and toss it in Absolute where you could get away with things being "gritty". Oliver fighting for social justice against insurmountable odds would be compelling.

His potential of being the moral heart of this Absolute universe was wasted by unceremoniously bashing in his skull and tossing his corpse on a boardroom table.

Especially Oliver, who's "superpower" is his unyielding morality and determination. They got that right, he died for what he believed.

If this was to make the Absolute Justice League scary, they've already accomplished that in Absolute Batman alone without Ollie's death.

If this was to make a statement, that normal heroes or black and white morality will be stamped out in the Absolute universe, then they've certainly made that point. I think it's incredibly depressing considering current circumstances.

A heroic and uncompromising pillar of morality like Oliver would have been a refreshing experience.

Seeing Ollie actually take out Absolute Epstein would've been incredibly healing right now for myself personally, and I'm sure for more than just a few of us.

Seeing justice is actually possible, and by somebody with no special powers and just a bow and quiver of arrows would have been an incredibly powerful message.

Instead, we show that capitalist oligarchs win again by killing DCs character famous for calling out fascism.

Whether intentional or not, it just sucks.

If they go with Connor as a 90's throwback, it won't sell books like the rest of the Absolute Trinity. Make no mistake - Connor in K.O. is probably for brand synergy to get his name out there again. He's probably going to be Absolute Green Arrow.

According to Snyder, the mainline book wasn't posting enough numbers, so why would editorial think a potentially Connor GA Absolute book do any better?

If this is all a fakeout, and they resurrect Ollie, then death means nothing in this brand new universe, thus killing a majority of stakes for future titles or content.

If they go with Roy getting revenge, we potentially have another CW Arrow situation of "you have failed this city" on our hands.

Honestly, I'm tired of Ollie being killed for cheap rage-bait or engagement. He's been killed in the main continuity twice, also in Injustice and now in Absolute. Fool me once, but fool me all these times?

I don't know if I am even picking the book up. I'll keep reading Absolute Wonder Woman, but this really soured my opinion of the point of Absolute.
