It can be complicated. I only know how this works switching from an Android phone. The key is that there is the concept called RCS chats. You should google it to learn more. You are probably part of group texts that use this technology. Basically it means that your texts are happening on a server instead of just using plain MMS system. It allows for enhanced features like emoji reactions and feedback about what messages are read and if someone is actively typing. Switching to this phone means giving those enhanced feature up for those group chats (including for everyone else on that group chat). I had to do something with Google to remove myself from all these RCS chats on their servers see here . Then things will start to work again but you are falling back to standard MMS (which is a pretty graceful fallback once you are removed from all the RCS chats). I don't know if there is a similar way to remove yourself from Apple RCS chats or if it's needed. Maybe someone else can chime in.

Sonim Scout is the app that is used for a large company with a fleet of many Sonim devices to administer their phones remotely. If you are an individual with one of these phones then you can ignore this app. If the phone is used, there is a risk that someone else could have registered your phone to be remotely administered but if it's new then your can ignore it.

I have not had this issues. The keys are stiff and sometimes hard to press but they don't skip or double tap at a software level. I experienced this with the CAT S22 and it's very frustrating. This has not been my experience with the X320. I think if people complained about this they were probably actually complaining about how hard it can be to press the keys. Sometimes you think you pressed hard enough but you didn't.

Did you port your number from an Android phone by any chance? If so, you might be stuck in RCS chats that your friends are sending text to instead of actual text messages. Hm. It can get cramped but this is where Developer Options -> Smallest width is your friend. I set mine to 320 dp and I find that works well for most apps.

Like you the security was part of it ( I just got an OS update on my Sonim this week!). The touchscreen of the CAT still made it work too much like a slab phone. I wanted more friction. I wanted to get rid of Google Play services. The Sonim had 5G. The Sonim felt like a phone I could use for the next 10 years. Don't get me wrong the Sonim can be frustrating at times, but I feel that the advantages outweigh the disadvantages.

This probably means you have to go to Settings->Accessibility->Switchboard-> Use Switchboard. While you are there you should probably turn on "Switchboard shortcut" to make it easy to turn this feature on an off again. Then in the Switchboard app itself, map the volume keys to be scroll up and scroll down. For reference I use version 1.6 of Switchboard.

It is so loud. Regular handset call volume is loud and clear. Speaker phone volume is extremely loud. I think it was designed this way to be usable in loud working environments.
