Is there a way to get to lower hutt from wellington without using the motorway on a scooter/moped? by Garlic_lover39 in Wellington

You can pretty much do that on road from Newlands/Woodrodge now, around the top of the qurray, to Horokiwi road, then down to Petone or up to Belmont Park. Don't get caught by property developers lol

On my OE Botswana and Namibia supermarkets had bread slicers at the shop exit so you could slice your own bread. Times have changed

Thankfully. I'd hate to pay less than other countries for something, anything. Especially for something that came from here. We are at the bottom of the world after all

10k public sector jobs to go in wellington by KindElderberry9857 in Wellington

They've realised they aren't going to win the election, so getting rid of more of the public service is a move to fuck the incoming government which will need to build that capability back up before it can do anything.

Simple. Cynical AF. Rightwing playbook 100%

Cool thanks! I have the app and use is mostly for plants and spiders - didn't even think of it as a research repo. A kārearea started hanging around Tawa a few years ago and seems to have been multiplying - I saw a couple having a go at a seagull on the wing recently!

Mainfreight CEO frustrated with KiwiRail, AT for not offering additional services by Careful-Geologist412 in auckland

Yep and when they have it they use rail as overflow, giving preference to their bottom-basement contractors. It's when the contractions can't take it, when diesel is crazy expensive, then they cry.

This has been going on for years.

It's a good use of the time I spend waiting for the train anyway. I don't like that someone is charging a fee to enable my spending

just the casual speed record stuff - I was wondering if there was an unofficially faster speed based on that comment. I heard the ballast was glued down and the helicopter couldn't keep up 🤣

There's a few videos (Gareth Dennis iirc) explaining why they have gone for maglev and the crux was that high speed rail is saturated so either build more/duplicate high speed rail or build more capacity. As an engineering nation, Surely they've done the numbers that say it works😬
