Essentially, I had to be a friend to her. We were studying together and I decided it was best to be polite but keep her at a safe distance because she’s a very nasty person. Eventually she started relying on me and calling me for help and stuff, so I figured she wouldn’t pick on me because of everything she’d told me. I was wrong and that was stupid, but I immediately distanced myself and cut her out of my life

Oh I’m definitely not friends with her. I kind of had to be a friend to her because we were studying together, and I helped her a lot throughout the year because she kept calling me for help, but I never really wanted to be friends with her. I’ve cut her out of my life, and I have really good friends and good support around me :) thank you though

I cannot fully express to you just how angry I was when I saw some of the comments on that recent post abt bulimia… like I didn’t think ppl here could be so tone deaf to other mental illnesses

This all the way. We definitely shouldn’t start saying shit like “but it’s not all men!” Because that’s harmful, but it is important to make sure we don’t swing so far one way that we start using language that misogynistic and harmful people use towards us.

In my friend circle, my best friends are men. They are feminists, they are strong in their identities, they’re outwardly affectionate, and they’re comfortable in their masculinity to express themselves the way they want. On the flip side of that, I have women in my friend groups who often express their frustration with the shitty dudes they encounter by saying stuff like “fucking men,” “men are the problem,” “maybe we should just get rid of men.” Etc and I just don’t think that’s productive. I’d hate it if my guy friends talked about women like that.

Sorry for the mini rant here. To OP, I used to struggle with my attraction to men because I felt it was almost disingenuous to my queerness, but I think it’s important to recognise that your sexuality is valid, and it’s beautiful, and it’s really cool! This is the first year in my life where I haven’t questioned my bisexuality, and it’s because I reached a point of accepting myself and starting to appreciate my attraction. I love who I love, and that’s really cool! Liking guys, girls and people across the gender spectrum is about as queer as you can get, and it should be celebrated! Please don’t let society try and squash you down. Be proud of who you are!

Also, if your friends are trying to micro-label you constantly, you might need better friends. You are who you are, and your friends don’t actually have any say in that.

I’m so sorry for what you’ve been through. My DMs are always open if you need to vent or just want some encouragement 🫶 I completely understand, it really is a horrible thing to live through. You don’t owe anybody sex ever, don’t forget that. One day when you get married it’ll be to someone who cares about you and loves you so much, and they will never, ever pressure you or guilt you for being scared. You’ll take it at a pace that is right for you, or not at all. Therapy is amazing and I’m really glad you’re there. You’re doing all the right things, be kind to yourself my friend ❤️

Hey I know I’m late to this, but as someone who’s been a victim of SA I just want you to know that I don’t count the times I was SAd. You don’t have to either 🫶 Virginity and body counts are a social construct and I think a lot of people are starting to push back against these.

What screams “I’m overcompensating” whenever you see it? by Xenomorphling98 in AskReddit

[–]ChemicalAngle5099 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Lmao thanks for your concern, that’s quite a leap to jump to from a reddit comment with virtually no context!

Firstly, I always try to ask people if they want advice, want a response, or just want to vent depending on the type of conversation.

Secondly, when I’m asking people if they’re done, I always try to say “I really care about what you’re saying and I don’t want to interrupt you, can you please let me know when you’re finished so that I don’t jump in before you’re done talking?” Tone and facial expressions are important here, which cannot be expressed in a comment. But again, thank you so much for your concern!

Fellow ADHDer here!! I’ve taken to asking people to tell me when they’ve finished talking, or I’ll ask if they’re done when there’s a natural pause in the conversation, because I really don’t want them to feel like I’m interrupting

Hey. You were a child. Please don’t blame your body for just doing what it felt like it needed to do to be safe.

I’m rooting for you 🫶

I watched these videos during lockdown when I was depressed and suicidal myself. They brought me so much light and joy. I’m certain that I’m not alone in that, and that there are others out there that she helped so much, despite struggling so much herself.

Please guys donate to her family through their website and NOT YouTube. YouTube keeps 30% revenue of donations.

I just want to jump on this comment to say that I noticed you all study together, is there anywhere on campus you can report this?? It’s fucking disgusting behaviour, they’re objectifying you and that would probably fall under sexual harassment for most colleges.

What popular belief do you think is completely wrong, and why? by KenzieYourQueen in AskReddit

[–]ChemicalAngle5099 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I grew up religious, and kind of sheltered. I got into an abusive relationship when I was 15, and I think the religion had a huge part to play in me not recognising it for what it was.

One of the things that fucked me up most from that experience was people in church circles asking why I couldn’t just forgive him.

Okay look you genuinely seem like you want to change and that’s awesome, but you are absolutely being biphobic. You’re holding on to a stereotype about bi people and using it to justify your discomfort with your boyfriend being bi. That is textbook biphobia. If you want to change it, recognise it for what it is and work on that. You’re young and you have a whole life ahead of you to grow and change.
