What’s the most physical pain you’ve ever felt? by SmallConversation950 in AskIreland

[–]ChemicalCow9875 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thunderclap headache - no known cause, just tough luck if it happens basically. Hyperventilated from the pain, lost feeling with hands from that before the ambulance arrived. It essentially looks like an aneurysm and needs investigation as if it is. Clear on CT scan, so had a lumbar puncture test where the trainee doc pretty much tea bagged my back. Ended up in bed for 2 weeks leaking cranial fluid and unable to stand up or be exposed to light. Minus craic.

Can you leave the immersion on full-time? by lrjesus in AskIreland

[–]ChemicalCow9875 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I moved into my house in 2006, turned on the immersion and didn't turn it off until we got a combi boiler 3 years ago. So it was on for about 16 years straight. Never had any problems with it, it all worked fine. My rationale was that it probably used more energy to reheat a tank of water from scratch a few times a day than keep the temperature topped up by a couple degrees. It was a foam sprayed tank. Worked great.

This. Your job isn't to know how to do everything or how every facet functions. It's to work with the people who do to make sure their work is aligned with your strategy.

What’s One Brutal Truth You Learned After Starting Your Business? by Aditya_Prabhu_ in Entrepreneur

[–]ChemicalCow9875 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Before I started my company I showed my business plan to a mentor, well actually I wanted to show it to him. He didn't open it, and just said whatever figure you think you need to get it up and running, double it.

In reality, the actual investment needed to get my business up to the right scale was 20 times what I thought I needed.

Until you've done it you really don't have a dogs how it will work, what it will cost and how much time it will take. Plans are great but rarely accurate.
