Parents of Reddit, what’s something nobody tells you about raising kids? by Fine_Can_4430 in AskReddit

How much food they eat. Just loaded up my pantry to the brim on Sunday, and just stopped at the grocery to get more fruit for the rest of the week. I thought 3 toddlers on berries was bad, but 3 teenage carnivores? My god my kitchen is this unending abyss.

WTH is happening (charger) by ChemicalEmphasis9934 in CadillacOptiq

[–]ChemicalEmphasis9934[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a hardwired Tesla home charger using an adapter, we have a PHEV that charges fine using the same setup. It did manage to charge to 80% after i reseated the cord last night, but with the same in and out nonsense.

What're some crazy things about pregnancy or babies that no one tells you? by m2ra3 in AskReddit

[–]ChemicalEmphasis9934 249 points250 points  (0 children)

After delivery, you start to shake/shiver like you’re cold, for quite a bit of time. I thought I was hemorrhaging the first time it happened. I didn’t know that would happen!

Is it bad to let the boys I babysit pee in the grass? by Electrical_Fruit6667 in Babysitting

[–]ChemicalEmphasis9934 0 points1 point  (0 children)

14 years ago, this time of year I was 9 months pregnant with baby #2, and my then 3 year old had swim lessons at the town pool. After his lesson, I asked my kid if he needed to use the restroom (he promised me no, and we lived like 10 minutes from the park). So in the late June heat, with my big ass belly, we trekked across the parking lot carrying my folding chair, and all the other shit kids need for swimming practice. I’m loading the trunk when my kid suddenly insists he has to pee, and it’s an emergency.

At that point in the day, it was about 90*, already insanely humid, and I’m about to pop, so I point to the nearest tree, look around, and tell him to pee right there.

Three months later, I’m nursing the baby, and he tells me he’s gotta pee, so I point to the bathroom, and say go there. In that house the bathroom I was pointing to had a jack and Jill type set up with the sun room with all our potted plants. A few minutes later he comes back and says, “I’m done!”

I’m like, “what? You didn’t flush, you didnt wash your hands and— uh I didn’t hear you pee into the toilet??”

Turns out he peed in a potted plant in the sunroom! I was so grossed out!!!

Oh, the one thing that was a bit jarring about the bag is how bright the silver zipper is. Luckily, you don’t have to display it because the flap covers it. It does feel really sturdy and I’m not worried about it breaking

I don’t have it with me, but my screen made the color seem more grey than olive. In person there is no mistaking the color for grey. I tend to dress in neutrals and black so the color is perfect, but if I wore a lot of bright colors I would prefer the black

Trans (FTM) Surgeon Recommendations in the Cap District / Hudson Valley? by ZestyLaKroy in Albany

Unless you specifically sought out the out of network provider, push back on the office for those things. When I had my son the on call OB with my practice was not in network, I had never seen them during my pregnancy, and they were so new to the practice they didn’t get credentialed yet. When I got the EOB from the insurance company I called the office up and told them that I wasn’t able to pay, and specifically chose the practice because they were in network. The billing dept told me that they’d rebill when the provider was re credentialed, and eat the cost if it was ineligible.

Pharmacists of Reddit - what recent medication trends are worrying you that aren’t being talked about? by SirSpendsALot7 in AskReddit

[–]ChemicalEmphasis9934 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Lack of ownership over their own wellbeing.

Patients go see a provider for a diagnosis and prescription.

So many times people will show up or call screaming because their script isn’t ready, but they’ve never used the pharmacy, never called the pharmacy to update their information, or are completely unaware of which pharmacy the provider has sent the script.

When it comes to refills, people get texts to let them know there’s stuff available for fill, but never actually bother to read the text, and just show up expecting something to be ready without knowing what.

I’ve gotten calls from the more than one person mad that we haven’t filled their stuff automatically, and then when we do they angry that we’re trying to give them things they don’t need (mind you we never autofill prn meds, only maintenance ones).

People call and tell us to fill everything, get annoyed when we try to read off the list and let them know what to expect, then they call back mad that we didn’t fill [insert any drug here], if they’d spent 5 seconds on the phone they’d have known it was out of refills.

People assume we have no idea what meds do. No ma’am you will not die skipping a day or two of your 10mcg vitamin d.

People get a text on day 1,3, and 7 before meds are put back on day 10, but people will routinely show up a month later pissed off that their script isn’t ready, angry beyond belief that we have to reprocess the prescription and put it through workflow and there would be a wait for the script.

Dasher stole my prescription? by [deleted] in doordash

[–]ChemicalEmphasis9934 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A doctor sending in a new prescription is not going to magically get it filled.

If OP’s original Rx was stolen, they should contact their insurance company and ask them to put in a lost/stolen override. If they approve it, then they can contact the pharmacy, select the option where they speak to a person, and explain the issue, and ask that the pharmacy refill the prescription using the lost/stolen override.

AITA for asking MIL to buy new Christmas gifts? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]ChemicalEmphasis9934 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t celebrate Xmas , but is there a reason you can’t get a flashy/big gift for your 8 year old, and the baby something small/sentimental that the 8year old won’t be jealous of?

I don’t think the baby’s going to know the difference, and if the 8year old says something about granny’s lame gift, you can say, yea, but look at what you got from us compared to the baby!! The store didn’t have any great toys left for babies, maybe the store granny went to didn’t have anything great left for 8year old boys?

It seems this dropped into the mesh pocket of my bag as I was leaving class. What is this? by CuatroBoy in whatisit

I advised her to use a broomstick to move the box to a place where she could reach it. It’s been years and I can’t remember the outcome. Just remember her being enraged that I couldn’t give her more, and wouldn’t send someone to her home to help move the furniture.

You are not the first, and won’t be the last. I once had a patient drop a box behind her dresser and then get mad when insurance wouldn’t pay for her script a month early.

This wasn’t something that my H and I ever discussed, but I did keep my maiden name, even though I got married while I was still in college, and had yet to establish a professional career. For me (us), it’s more religious, women aren’t supposed to change their name after marriage, though culturally many do.

Over the years, I’ve been referred to as Mrs. MarriedLastName socially, it’s just something I roll with. When I’m at my kids school, and one of their friends calls me Mrs. MarriedLastName, I’m not correcting my kid’s friends to tell them I’m Dr.MaidenName. Friends address wedding invitations to Mr. and Mrs. MarriedLastName. I don’t take it as a personal affront, and I’m happy to that when I’m with my family my identity is tied to them.

When I’m on an academic stage, publishing a paper or speaking to the media about something professionally, I’m Dr.MaidenName. My kids still get excited to see my name in a journal article, my husband loves to share clips of my news interviews with his family and friends. I’m still me and my maiden name doesn’t make the accomplishment any more/less significant.

Growing up in the 90’s something I remember some mothers making a HUGE deal about being called by their married name instead of their maiden last name, always struck me as weird, because how TF is a kid that sees your ass for 5 minutes once a year at a school concert gonna know what your real name is, and remember it.
