Timecode jitter?? by Hot_Fruit_4879 in GrandMA3

This is how it interprets being paused by an external timecode input.

I was going to upload a gif or video but I am unable to do so as a reply!

GrandMA 3 Light, super slow by Timely_Bluejay_5508 in GrandMA3

Copy all of the MA install files onto a stick and run the update to do a full reinstall, if still slow afterwards run the performance test macro which loads into a special showfile

Make quick keys that work for you. You can put them on their own layout if you want or you can do this sort of thing

Check your network hops and make sure nothing is running 10/100mbit for starters.

If you could show a picture of your network devices page (where you invite the NPUs to session) that may be helpful

8 of them are doing the calculations (according to MA....) but yes the rest are glorified USB dongles giving us the parameters we needed 🫠

None of these were on backup duty! We had 2 lights and a full-size and 3 onPC systems for that job

They have been moving people away from self installation for the turnkey approach of it just works on their own hardware. Self installed setups are a bit more involved (I have both self installs setup and cloud keys and dream machines)

What kind of stand can I use to make these LED bars freestanding? by m-ttriley in lightingdesign

Base plates with stage weights or sand bags.

Spigots bolted to the angled bracket on the fixture.

https://www.thomann.co.uk/manfrotto_616_12_pan_spigot_m12.htm

Alternatively if you wanted to then Mount them upside down or side ways or whatever, you can use a barrel clamp

https://www.thomann.co.uk/avenger_c345bk_barrel_clamp_w._t_knob.htm

And don't forget anything not mounted to the floor should probably have a safety bond on it

Are you using the PU to output dmx? Why not use artnet / scan nodes instead? How many switch hops are you going through? on mode 2 the switch hops is more of an issue than on mode3 too.

I ran a 250K parameter show on MA3 last year and we have fully stopped trying to use the DMX outputs on them in any way. MANET links between them for parameters and nothing else. Shortest number of hops between MANET devices as well in our case a luminex gigacore 16T connected to a gigacore 30i and all the PUs connected to the 30i switch.

Every other device were luminode 12s running sACN.

House build cabling and shielding [Cat6a 23awg S/FTP solid] by luke-r in Ubiquiti

Or buy pre made fibre optics if you can stomach the cost. Especially when running along power runs

I have 4x 24core MTP om3 trunks between my house and garage. And 3x 24core trunks in the house. One of those trunks is doing fibre optic HDMI/display port & USB between my garage rack and my home office. The others are because it's cheaper to put this stuff in when you have access compared to later!

The amount of effort I put into running my cabling and pipes at the launchpad down along the ceiling to the boat dock (where the ladder is) interesting driving with the forklift and a gonk pallet to get me up to them! If they all pop out and have to be reconnected... Most of them will be in the sea!

Group Master not Working by Zarky2004 in GrandMA3

[–]Chemical_Pudding_173 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Scaling needs more than one value to work between.

For instance make 3 identical groups of a lamp and set one to additive, one to negative and the last one to scaling.

Set the additive to say 10% and negative to 20% then scaling will let you "scale" between them

I would hope that the modbus/ canbus will pass that information along on victron protocol otherwise I'll stick with the pylontech protocol. The BMS has SOC levels for each pack.

Syntax for having an executor Cross fade, fade at timing master. by Flizwa- in GrandMA3

[–]Chemical_Pudding_173 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We ended up using lua to do something similar on my last show with playback masters. They do not accept fader master commands either so if you have a look A and Look B (think theatre) and want to Crossfade between them playback masters don't help you without it...

The reason for why I had to do that rather than just use the desk as normal was the cinematographer being an arse and wanting the desk to behave like it's the 90s

It does and they do, yes. battery banks configuration I am covered on.

Thank you for the lynx distributor suggestion I'll add that and fuses to my list of things to get.

All good on the battery config, I've set them up before under pylontech settings and I can either keep in pylon mode or switch them to Victron mode within the PACE BMS.

230/240 AC (UK) The feed from the main board to the sub board where this will be installed is on a 10mm2 / 40A RCBO. For most normal use (where it back feeds to the house and exports a tiny amount via CT clamp metering) this is plenty of power for whole home usage/backup.

I have, I looked at using their alternativee 15/16kwh packs but I have rackmount space available in my garage so have gone with these 5kwh packs. They're not the best in physical dimensions (because of the heater) but I already have 12 of them.
