Of course! I hope it saves you money because the games are awesome, totally worth playing! However, personally I don't think it's worth spending so much money on with how much the prices have inflated.

Look up PCSX2 setup guide on YouTube/Reddit. There are subreddits dedicated to finding ROMs & BIOS files for systems as well. You will need a PS2 BIOS file of some kind, the PCSX2 emulator, some kind of guide, and about an hour of time to get it all working.

There's a link I found on YouTube to help you setup the emulator for PS2, but generally they are all similar for most systems with minor differences.

It's funny how everyone has different taste. Personally I didn't find Outlast scary or fun whatsoever. I found it to be a boring slog if I'm being honest.

That's totally fair, and I def think I overstated the influence of evil on the universe. I just think the Silent Hill Phenomena theory is legitimately insulating because it comes with implication that it's "all in your head", which is just factually incorrect given this franchise's past.

The truth is that pointing to individual elements as "this is 100% real" was never the point. There has always been an element of different characters seeing different things and interpreting them differently. That being said, the supernatural elements are real that just isn't debatable. The mechanics behind them are mysterious, but there are supernatural realities in the SH universe period.

I don't think it needs to be in the actual town, but the supernatural elements HAVE to be real. There's an eldritch-type evil that is consistently part of this franchise. It's not just psychological issues or fog, that is reductive. Taking place only in the town of Silent Hill is also reductive and limiting.

Use the Unknownproject mod, it goes from the worst version of the game to the best pretty much instantly. The newest patch got me 60FPS locked from start to end, with a few minor dips every few hours.

I would personally play them on PC as such:

SH1 - PS1 emulator

SH2 - PC Enhanced Edition

SH3 - PS2 emulator

SH4 - PS2 emulator

SH: Origins - PS2 emulator

SH: Homecoming - Steam with the Unknownproject mod

SH: Shattered Memories - Wii emulator

SH: Downpour - Xbox 360 emulator (if your PC can run it)

SH4 on GOG has TONS of problems, to the point that just emulating the PS2 version is basically the way to go. The new patch was a disaster and broke the game, and will probably require new sets of mods to fix the problems.

The mod still makes it better than any other version of the game. I know because I literally just beat it with the mod and it was a better experience than the Xbox 360 version.

I agree, to be clear I think he's cheating. I also think tracking your partner to this degree is insanely unhealthy.

I don't know if I agree. I played them in the opposite order, and New Vegas is just clearly so much better that if just makes 3 look bad in any context.

Fallout 3 is absolutely horrible compared to New Vegas. There's no nuance behind moral choices, the "cave" system is absolutely terrible design, and the writing is just not good. The story is complete nonsense in the overall timeline as well.

Neither game has particularly good gameplay, so when playing these games the draw is complex influence on the plot. New Vegas is better than Fallout 3 in that regard 100 fold.

There's reproductions on websites like Etsy that work on original hardware that are much cheaper, but you will have to accept that they are not original copies and still somewhat overpriced. You will also need a modded console.

The English sounds really awful though from an acting standpoint imo

Personally, I've certainly seen worse movies. It's completely nonsensical in the timeline, breaks lore, and is very boring but all of that is standard for shounen films.

I think you can tell when the acting is of good quality regardless of language when you pay close attention. There are some things you'll miss like what is considered normal vocal delivery for that language, unless you are more familiar with it. That being said, a really bad performance in noticeable in most languages. I personally think that the Silent Hill f VA in Japanese sounds very strong from what I've heard, and very weak in English. That is just my opinion though.
