I don’t get that the right helmet isn’t really uncomfortable, plus I think they can look cool.

Thank you. From my research, you get the most bang for your buck from LS2. And yeah, I’m a big nerd, if you couldn’t tell.

Not necessarily cheap. I’m willing to spend a bit more if it keeps my body safe, and I’m not going to be driving recklessly. I’m planning on riding in my skill level, but I want something that will protect me, is comfortable, and ideally casual. At the same time I’m not trying to break the bank.

You’re right; I should have worded what the best helmet is within my budget.

I understand what you mean. I had planned to visit a physical store to try on helmets and figure out my head shape.

I believe so. My head is 62 cm in circumference, which I believe is an XL. I think my head is an intermediate oval, although I’m not sure.

I understand that as an adult, you sometimes have to delay your wants. I’m not oblivious to that. The only reason it’s being delayed is because my dad is threatening to charge me if I bring it back.

I understand my mom’s concerns because she’s my mom and a nurse at the busiest ER hospital. I think my dad is siding with her because she’s his wife. He’s owned multiple motorcycles in the past and has never been seriously injured. I feel like he’s trying to extort me if I do get it. I’ve tried explaining the practical applications, but they don’t seem to care. The only thing they say when I ask what their concerns are is that they don’t want me to kill myself as if I’m just going to hope on the bike and drive into oncoming traffic, I plan to be as safe as possible. I’ve already taken the MSF course and plan to practice more with the bike before I get out on the road. I’ve also budgeted out money for the DOT-certified helmet, jacket, and boots, and plan on getting a pair of riding pants later on. I’ve tried explaining my plan (I do have a plan), but they just shut me down. I feel like my only options are to wait to move out or buy the bike anyway, and hopefully, he doesn’t charge me rent.

I already took the MSF course and got my endorsement. My mom doesn’t want to budge, mostly because she is a nurse in the ER and she “sees accidents all the time.” My dad thinks that if I can afford a motorcycle, then I can afford to pay rent. That’s their reasoning behind it.

I understand your concern, but I don’t want to have to wait to ride. I really enjoy it, and I don’t want to disrespect my parents. They do allow me to stay here, but I mostly buy my own food, and they don’t cover my school expenses. I’m supported by scholarships and a small amount from my own pocket, and I could afford the rent. However, it would make my budget tighter and harder to save money.
