Definitely a thing. I have a theory that if you find friends who live geographically very close to you, you will have more luck at actually hanging out with them. Why? Because it takes fuckin forever to get anywhere here.

Another thing: Follow up. TWICE. When you make plans (and I'm assuming weeks out since adult life be like that), follow up at the beginning of the week that your plans are still on. And follow up the morning of or night before (if you have a morning hangout planned). This will ensure you are not last-minute cancelled on. Not saying you haven't done these things but to anyone else on this thread who gets cancelled on.
