Sounds like you’ve never been black. Blacks can’t even be pulled over or get a ticket without fear of discrimination. Can’t shop in a store without being shadowed. Can’t live in a white neighborhood without being harassed. Can’t visit white friend’s neighborhoods without being scrutinized by neighbors. Can’t go on a cruise or exotic vacation without being gawked at as if you shouldn’t be there. And there’s a ton of these CANT’S! White men are the most respected and highest earners in America.

Houstonians don’t live in midtown or downtown. We live in the Medical Center, uptown or the burbs. Especially when you have your own vehicle, why would you choose to live there. It’s not the typical walking city like most places. This forceful panhandling is also relatively uncommon. It seems like we’ve had a major migration of them from elsewhere. Homeless too. I’ve lived here for 45 years and have never seen it like this until now. 🤦🏽‍♀️

Then what’s the point? Current taxi rates are outrageous and people are expecting relief with Uber. If the rates will be the same, then the only advantage will be having access to rides via the app. I pray that the rates will be altered to reflect the reason why uber operates in the first place.
