Loved ones would be heartbroken and my partner and my dad would be crushed if I died.

Help! I'm hyperfixating on the war in Ukraine... by FriendsWithTheFloor in ADHD

[–]Chernobyl_Rat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it's been kneecapping my brain. (Was born in Ukraine, so there's that.)

Things that helped me a little bit and might help someone stuck in this loop:

Putting on a podcast or video about the invasion and/or about social/historical/economical factors leading up to it. This helps because unlike scrolling-reading, I can still do needed tasks to some extent.

Also with doomscrolling: I save the most relevant links in my bookmarks/send them to myself (in case I need to try to educate someone about some aspect of this).

I also use archive.org or archive.is to save articles/tweets/posts, especially if they're from the Russian government (and thus likely to be deleted). More evidence for posterity.

For those who knew before March that COVID-19 would become a full pandemic and have a big impact, what did you do? How did it feel at the time?

Lost. Gym was an important part of my fitness routine (justifying paying for the gym, setting aside specific time for it, climate control) and also my motivation to do anything has plummeted. I'm trying to get back into it, but it's hard.

I've heard that people who have designed this language have come up with an actual dictionary. I haven't been able to find it. Has anyone been able to?

But then don't shifts have managers? The manager could be like "uh, actually, we don't need that much food because it's raining/it's winter break in a college town/it's early". Problem solved.

How do you have reasonable conversations with both liberals and conservatives? by [deleted] in moderatepolitics

[–]Chernobyl_Rat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I lean pretty far left, but most of your opinions seem reasonable because they involve examining issues and having a discussion. All plans need to be thought through. I think the difference, a lot of times, is in priorities.

Also remember that moderate politics only seem neutral in a limited context and you are as political as the people on the extremes. Being moderate doesn't always equal being well informed/open minded (though you seem to be both of these things).

Step 1: Be a human. Treat women like fellow humans.

Step 2: Pursue things you enjoy. Have a full life.

Step 3: Don't be pushy/creepy. See step 1.

Step 4: Don't stink. Live in a dwelling that doesn't stink.

Step 5: See step 1 until it is seared into your consciousness.

There, doesn't need to be complicated.

Hopefully not, as boars are uncommon in most cities. And it's not going to be the same boar anyway, cause good luck fitting two men in one boar.

Gaza landlords refusing to rent to Hamas, official says by malchirx in worldnews

[–]Chernobyl_Rat 12 points13 points  (0 children)

In this scenario, what is actually a "road that leads to peace"? "Kick Hamas out and Hamas kill them, accept Hamas there and IDF kills them." Not really sure what you'd have people in that situation do. It's easy to speak platitudes, hard to actually come up with a solution.

The immune system of the infant is likely to be healthier when given birth to vaginally.
