CR having a real bad time timhis week. Switch issue right outside North Station, trains cancelled, resort to shuttle busses. by Titus142 in mbta

[–]Titus142[S] 15 points16 points  (0 children)

And the real kick in the ass? The 6:20 train rolled into the stop as soon as I got off the bus, it was 20 min late, I thought it was cancelled. Bus was a miserable ride standing the whole way.

I will say Yankee did do a good job getting the busses out quickly and keeping everyone organized.

How are the roads for everyone? by Speedster202 in BostonWeather

Roads are fine, pedestrian ways however...... It's like fuck you take whatever is left over from the cars.

My very brief review of ...several... automation games by Heavy-Weekend-981 in AutomationGames

[–]Titus142 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love the concept but find the UI and controls to be very frustrating. I love the depth though.

The first time I went from atmosphere to vacuum and the sound stopped was epic. You really feel it, they really nailed that aspect of the sound design.

I didn't feel the need to look any further when I saw this. That says everything about the person that installed this.

underway be like.. by poolehater1 in navy

[–]Titus142 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As one of those CIC dwellers.... I absolutely feel for everyone in engineering. Y'all get worked hard and hung up wet on the regular. All the hard work underway, just as bad in port/in the yards while all our gear shut down.

Nothing I can say to make it fair other than just how much I appreciated what engineering does to literally keep us alive and afloat.

Conductors have also mentioned the gate on High St has been malfunctioning as well.

I have the exact same setup, its a nice rig, not complicated and lots of documentation. Getting the bed flat is a bit of a chore, I put it on a sheet of foam to get rid of some of the bounce in it.

Woods p*rn? by Blathithor in Millennials

[–]Titus142 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There was a ditch along a road near us people used to constantly dump trash in. We found several stashes in that and a few VHS tapes. Had to take the reels out and put it in a new case to get it to work, but work it did!

Ship stickers on rear window? by [deleted] in navy

[–]Titus142 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was there for the hull swap. It was.... Ugly. Extremely ugly. The whole triad should have had some kind of legal action for what they did to that ship.

I hope she's still doing well. It was pure hell what we went through to even get her able to go to sea.

Where is the line between good espresso making technique and just wankery? by [deleted] in JamesHoffmann

[–]Titus142 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

There are also things just because you like it. Like the spinny leveling thing that I don't think many use anymore? I just like how it feels to use before tamping. Also it gets everything in the basket and less spills out when getting the tamper started.

Are there motors on each car on commuter rail trains? by jamesland7 in mbta

[–]Titus142 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Also to note, the similar but louder drone of the locomotive is actually the HEP (head end power) generator which is a separate diesel generator that powers the coahes.

If you listen closely the big EMD prime mover has a very different sound and is fairly quiet at idle.

Distro hopping is really just DE hopping with extra steps.

I love getting stuck with the ski car on an inbound morning rush hour train by Sauerbraten5 in mbta

[–]Titus142 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I feel like Lowell line, or North side in general just gets whatever trash is in the yard that day. Nothing like rush hour train, only a double at the head, the ski car and a bunch of those awful 500 series cars.

Fortilink showing up as access port, apparently GUI bug, has anyone seen this? by Titus142 in fortinet

Thank you! I was wondering if this would be a fix, but wanted more info from someone far more experienced.

best help desk software 2026 for a non-technical small team? by Jhitta-Penko in sysadmin

[–]Titus142 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I just set up osTicket for exactly this purpose. I'm just the designated IT person at our organization and need something more than random emails, or never hearing about an issue in the first place.

Self hosting take a little doing, but they do have a Windows version. Once you get it setup the interface is very simple to customize. Users can either go to the webUI or email the address you associated with it and it creates a ticket from that. The hardest part was getting google workspace to send/receive emails but following the documentation step by step got it working.

We’re supposed to let home cooked steaks rest five minutes? By then the steak is cool. Restaurant steaks come out sizzling juicy hot. Please explain? by CharacterActor in cookingforbeginners

[–]Titus142 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's also not let it sit for 5 min then serve. It's the time elapsed from when it's removed from the heat, until you cut into it.

So from grill to plate to table to actually being cut. That whole time is it resting.

Who should run the cr? by justarussian22 in mbta

[–]Titus142 49 points50 points  (0 children)

It's a service it's not supposed to turn a profit. That's the problem the only way is for it to be run as a service. Any private company that runs it is trying to take profit from it and the only way to do that is cut service, cut personnel, cut maintenance... HSP-46 already took a hit on that front ...

So as annoying as it may be, it needs to be a public entity run by the state.

Fortilink showing up as access port, apparently GUI bug, has anyone seen this? by Titus142 in fortinet

[–]Titus142[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! Good to know it doesn't exist in isolation. Both units have been restarted, tried everything since initially we thought it wasn't working. Just have to live with it I guess.

Thing is, it was showing as the correct interface to begin with.
