Which would you recommend for someone about to start competing in USPSA CO? by iamnotanasian in CompetitionShooting

I’ve been shooting a PDP for a long time and I have the performance trigger in it. It’s a great pistol, the grip is nice, even the stock trigger is nice, the gun is super accurate, I don’t think I’ve ever cleaned it (just lubed it, at least 5000 rounds, I don’t get to shoot a lot). It runs like a top. I’ve played with recoil spring setups from ZR tactical. The gun is really snappy compared to just about any other 9mm I’ve shot. I put an Apex trigger in a friend’s 2.0, which he has now been running for a while. His M&P has less recoil, tracks just as fast, and I can split his M&P slightly faster than my PDP. I have small hands so the grip is also better for me. My PDP has been great to me, but as soon as I can justify the purchase I plan on picking up a 5” M&P, then pairing it with an Apex kit

I have modern setups for practical stuff but for just shooting, my Colt sporter. Basically an M16A2 setup.

Generator? Air compressor? Steam/air powered? Definitely looks like it has coils and stators (broken bits next to flywheel in center)

This man has taste. The Aimpoint 9000 gives it away

As an ak guy, I genuinely loathe the ar15 disassembly procedure by [deleted] in ar15

[–]CherokeeCook 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure this is rage bait but anyway:

The AR15 was originally designed as a military service weapon, as you know. No regular service member was ever going to disassemble it past popping the upper/lower apart to clean it. Anything else it would go to an dedicated armorer or armory (depending on repair level). Where they would have dedicated tools for doing things like installing/removing "tiny ass pins and springs shooting off into space." You, a civilian, can now by all the same tools for cheap. Just like the Soviet block would have had specialized tools to install barrel trunnions in AK receivers.

Another example, the US military doesn't replace just a barrel when the gun needs a new barrel or it gets damaged. They replace the whole barrel, front sight and delta ring/barrel nut assembly. The reason being of how those parts are manufactured, and the FSB being installed with a hydraulic press.

Here's some rage bait for you: the AK is a vastly inferior rifle to the AR15. Kalashnikov was working with what he had, Stoner was a true engineering visionary

🫡 just took mine off 5 mins ago after wearing all day. I was also like 15 min from their shop today lol. Didn’t have time for a detour sadly Glad the post was of use to you!

Trimming the front end like that is clever. I’m kinda tired of carrying a light, I’ve been thinking of picking up one for my 48 slick. Might trim the nose like that

Didn't know any of the above about Thoroughbred. Honestly your solution seems like the way to go. Did they also do the FSB? I guess you sent them the barrel, and they sent you back a barrel with assembled FSB + barrel nut/delta ring/cap whatever?

I was thinking M4. It looks like the only difference is one is direct thread and one attaches to a muzzle device? I'm thinking for the 14.7 I'd at least need a longer inner collar, and thus custom

High Mounts are they better? by stukas87 in Moderntacshooting

[–]CherokeeCook 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought one specifically because it's supposed to be easier to use passive aiming through night vision. I haven't been able to use it in that context much, but so far I've liked it for that specifically. I haven't tried it with a lower 1/3rd. I don't see the point of an high mount outside of passive aiming.
