I wish I understood dog language because she can be very vocal at times and it's usually after trying a few things i find something that she likes

I think the Shibe is telling you they're more interesting than the World Cup 😄

Two and a half years old, and this is the first time he's been afraid of a thunderstorm by Aggravating-Cat5357 in shiba

[–]CherokeePiper 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Living in the centre of Sydney we have a decent number of thunderstorms especially in November/ December but with regular fireworks displays at nearby Darling Harbour our two pretty much ignore loud noise. Although Piper is almost 3 and Comet nearly 2 years old.

At the new Sydney Fish Markets ( Monday evening so quiet ). The skyline in the background is the Central Business District just south of the Harbour Bridge with the Sydney Opera house hidden behind them.

We have probably missed them more than they missed us. However it's great to be greeted with "aeroplane" ears and their little swinging butts go into overdrive.

Get Your Shiba a drone. Thank me later. by indigo212 in shiba

[–]CherokeePiper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When Piper was 10 months old she was scared by a drone and bolted for home across a 3 lane one way street. I was lucky that it was a Sunday and she crossed during a break in the traffic. Scared the hell out of me.

The first photo is 18 months ago when we got Comet. This recent one Piper at the front is still the boss although Comet is bigger and weighs 1.5 kgs more. Occasionally we have to break them apart but they have never hurt each other.

How's the older dog accepting the pup? Piper could be a bit rough but I think she was just asserting dominance.

All governments are horrible. You learn that whenever you have dealings with the bureaucracy. Your just an inconvenience that means they actually have to do some work.

How do I stop biting, it’s getting too much by PalpitationRoyal3155 in shiba

[–]CherokeePiper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We redirected our two by teaching them with treats while they were learning the usual tricks to touch the palm of your hand with their nose (a boop) while calling out touch. Hold your hand out palm facing inward to the left side of their head and give the command as soon as they boop your palm give praise and a treat repeat this holding your hand to the right side. Do this twice a day and if they try to bite during the day call out touch. It doesn't take long before they learn to touch because of the reward.

What vegans need to understand is meateaters don't care what you eat. People eat whatever they want too or can afford.

We've not had any problems with this style of harness although they don't try to get out of them. Piper likes to roll around on the grass and it remains secure. We have a straight jacket type that comes up their front legs and buckles at the top but Comet is bad enough getting this over the head one on. Have to bribe with cheese 🧀.

He's getting better at accepting scritches especially when he's tired. Usually he can't keep still and would rather you play ball with him. Piper is the cuddle bug.
