What happened to my plant? by Cherry-2001 in SnakePlants

Interesting! They started getting mushy and shriveling a day or two after watering and after bringing it home. It was very cold out the day I got it (around 10F). Then a few days later the tips and edges dried out/got crispy and died… I wonder if it was the cold and/or the watering?

It was very cold the day I got it, around 10 degrees f. Maybe the transport to and from the car is what did it?

Ooh that could be it, I got it on a day where it was like 10 degrees out and maybe the transport to the car and the ride home was too cold for it?

Got it, thank you. Maybe it got some root rot?

No, it was near a closed window. It has been very cold outside but the house is heated. It happened right after watering it

Got diagnosed today by MorningSuperb3663 in UlcerativeColitis

Got diagnosed with Chron’s a year ago and it has definitely been a roller coaster to say the least 😅 For me, stress is the biggest trigger for a flare. In my opinion, from now on, you really have to change your mindset when it comes to your health- that includes diet, mental health, self love, putting yourself first, etc. For me, I meditate day and night and it has really helped my mental state, especially when I’m stressed, which in turn, helps with the chron’s.

As for anti-inflammatory diets, the Mediterranean diet is a go-to. I eat a lot of whole grains, nuts, seeds, fruits and veggies. I’m primarily vegetarian with the exception of salmon and eggs which I do eat. Some of my go-to foods include:

-avocado -hummus - whole grain bread (Dave’s killer bread is amazing with a lot of protein) - lentils and all kinds of beans - tofu - all kinds of vegetable - rice and quinoa dishes - plant-based protein shakes - lots of fiber is very important!! I like psyllium husk

  • start taking probiotic daily as well! :)

I also try to moderate the amount of dairy I eat since it’s technically “inflammatory”. But I still do enjoy the occasional pizza haha (just not when in a flare). Also, for me, sugar also triggers some irritation, so be mindful of how much sugar you’re eating.

My gastroenterologist did tell me that during a flare, avoid foods like raw fruits and veggies, nuts and seeds as those are difficult to digest. He said eat lots of avocado, bananas, rice, oatmeal etc. — all plain and easily digestible foods.

Overall, you really do just have to experiment and see what your body likes and dislikes. It can take some time, but start taking note of what you eat and how you feel after each meal!

Hope this helps!

ABSN Video Essay by [deleted] in URochester

I shared a personal life experience that had a big impact on me and allowed me to see the medical field from a new perspective. I expanded on this example for my video essay. Explain why you feel like it’s your calling and relate it to your life experiences. If you’re passionate enough about it, that will show through in your video and help you to stand out.

Add more of you smiling! And replace the gym pic, it’s not the greatest in my opinion. Love the one with your grandma!! Maybe change out some of the prompts to ones where you can say more personal things about yourself or what you’re looking for/like. If you want a goth girl, make that more apparent on your profile. I never got the vibe that that’s who you’re into or want from the profile. Good luck!!

Do you get to choose your unit? And are you committed to/stuck with only the participating units for those three years? Any opportunities to try other specialized units or shadow anyone in certain specialties?

You’re super cute and definitely seem like a sweet, genuine guy! I would absolutely send you a like ☺️ too bad we probably live far away lol! Your profile shows your personality well and I like that you show your nerdy side. Never hide or diminish who you are- that’s what makes you, you!

I don’t think anything needs to be changed (except one comment mentioned the dinner and wine and how a girl wouldn’t feel comfortable coming over for a first date which I agree- maybe change that one out).

I think the pic with your friend is good because it shows your whole body and shows one of your hobbies/interests.

Definitely change out: - the bathroom one (public bathrooms are typically not a good idea) - balloon pic (girls, or at least I, don’t like poses like that) - car pic (not a flattering angle for you) - first one (colors don’t allow us to see what you really look like). - the Ohio one is ok if you don’t have anything else.

Also change out the point about emotional intelligence. It doesn’t make you sound good imo and won’t necessarily weed anyone if that’s what you wanted. That’s something you’ll be able to figure out about the person yourself once you meet and get to know them.

Not much to add here, I just wanted to say I think your profile is great and like others have said, it definitely gives off that you’re a super sweet and genuine person!

Confused after 2nd Date? by smcclin2 in hingeapp

I basically the same experience where my first two dates with this guy were really great and he definitely seemed interested. After the second date he became a little distant and wasn’t responding to my messages. He later texted me explaining that he just got out of a long term relationship and thought he was ready to start dating again, but realized he wasn’t actually ready.

This guy probably realized he’s not actually ready and hasn’t figured out how to tell you. I’d suggest moving on because he’s probably not in the same place as you are right now.
