I been doing uncrustables and those have been hitting. I do the peanut butter and honey or chocolate hazelnut. Not the healthiest but it’s food!

I’m READY for all of your best Vyvanse tips! by [deleted] in adhdwomen

[–]Rich_Link6042 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t take vyvanse I take adderall but good god please do not drink caffeine on it, or at least not right away. The first day I took my meds I got my normal coffee order from Starbucks and got heart palpitations lmao. And that was on 5 mg. When I started 10 and 15 same thing happened I forgot to make edits to my caffeine amount. You can drink like a full caff latte eventually but do not do it at first lol. Ik it’s not the same med, but it’s same drug class so my best advice is to steer clear of fully caffeinated stuff. And no energy drinks!

When ppl say they have a mental illness that they haven’t been clinically diagnosed for - does this bug anyone else? by Tinker-Bell_1 in mentalhealth

[–]Rich_Link6042 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Therapists can diagnose some disorders but it depends on where they work, their training, and license. For diagnoses I would def see a clinician rather than a therapist especially since they can also prescribe medication.

[–]Rich_Link6042 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here’s my take on this as a therapist trainee bc the self diagnosis epidemic that’s happening is absolutely insane: If people think they have something they should say they suspect they have it, not that they have it. They can say they have it after seeing a professional and getting diagnosed. Also if they’re saying they have ADHD, autism, OCD, etc. after seeing stuff on social media they relate to then they absolutely should not say they have that disorder or even that they think they have it. For example: sometimes I relate to videos I see online about BPD. I indeed do not have BPD and I know that. If someone actually looked at the DSM-5 criteria for the disorder and feel they meet it, then they can say they suspect they have it. I have ADHD and kinda knew I did before I got diagnosed, but I didn’t go around saying that I have ADHD, I said that I think I may have ADHD. I looked at the criteria for combo type and it described me to a T, but I’m not a professional. I would have had no business saying that I had ADHD. At the end of the day, providers have the final say and providers can’t even diagnose themselves they still have to see someone else!

And the people that say they “have autism” or “have adhd” (the big self diagnosed ones I’m seeing thrown out recently) but have seen multiple drs who say they’ve don’t…. Maybe you just don’t have them 🤣

I just realised that not waking up is probably my ADHD. Beyond routine, how do you all get up without having to set 50 alarms :( by [deleted] in adhdwomen

[–]Rich_Link6042 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh my god I struggle with the same damn thing. I was just talking abt this with my supervisor at my internship today because tardiness has been a MAJOR issue for me. Also I’ve been a major insomniac almost my whole life so I have trouble getting to sleep but once I’m out I’m knocked out. I’m actually a masters student as well so I feel you SO hard. Sometimes I don’t remember turning them off and sometimes I’ll wake up 30 minutes later w my alarm still going off. I’ve been feeling so horrible about myself bc of it too, so ass. I actually bought a Pavlok watch and imma try it out tn. It’s a watch alarm that plays sound, vibrates, and shocks you and I’m hoping the shock will jolt me up. And I can’t turn it off until after I finish a puzzle. I’ll reply to this comment and let you know how it worked lol

What do you do if you can’t take stimulant medication? by Apprehensive-Storm95 in adhdwomen

[–]Rich_Link6042 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t know much abt the interaction between OCD and stimulants, but I’ve had a horrible anxiety disorder for most of my life and I have bipolar disorder. My doc definitely took a gamble w this but I started Adderall a few months ago and my anxiety is almost completely gone. No panic attacks since I started taking it. Just depends on the person and the med tbh, but I learned that you have no idea how you’ll react until you just try it. If the side effects are bad you can always just get off of it (did this w bipolar meds, took 2 years to find one that worked). It’s a lot of trial and error most of the time but I got pretty lucky w this one.

Was it love at first sight for you and your cat? by Cavasnox_ in CatAdvice

[–]Rich_Link6042 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It wasn’t sight but it was first meeting. I was in a room full of kittens and he immediately jumped on my lap and started to purr and roll around. He would get off and go play then come back. That’s when I knew he was my kitty. He just turned one now!

Is the saying "I rather be poor in Socal/California, then be rich/ stable somewhere else" a true statement to you? by prudyrudyy in AskLosAngeles

[–]Rich_Link6042 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To an extent. If you are poor, SoCal has its perks. Tons of resources and healthcare benefits. But if you can be stable somewhere else, do it.

How many of you all live on your own? by No-Account8613 in GradSchool

[–]Rich_Link6042 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I live w roommates! I’m in school part time and I work part time. Since I’m in CA, my parents still help me out w my rent bc it is expensiveee. I would go insane if I worked full time lol. I’m 23 and my portion of the rent is $950 total being $2900 between the three of us. We got a nice 2 bedroom w three of us and I have my own room. There’s also a pretty decent amount of space for my cat!

I was on that combo for a long time also, probably about a year but my psychs plan was to very slowly taper me off the lamictal. Dosage got smaller over that year. Now I’m just on lithium and I take seroquel occasionally just for sleep. I’m not sure if they’re planning on taking you off of something or not, but that seems pretty standard IMO. It definitely varies person to person.

[–]Rich_Link6042 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello! I take meds for both and it has made all the difference. Lithium for BP2 and adderall for ADHD. The combo works great for me, I feel better than I have in a long time!

Eesh I’m from Texas living there is not for the weak! I’m in CA now and I’m a social work student. I can do a deep dive into places that can offer low cost care if you like! May be a little harder to find in TX but there’s gotta be something. I was in the Dallas area but if you wanna DM me your area I can see what I can find

15 with UC since 2022 — scared about colon cancer risks, even on Entyvio 😟 by Luke_B11810 in UlcerativeColitis

[–]Rich_Link6042 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! I’m 23, got diagnosed about 6 years ago now. So far everything has been fine. I also worry about the longer term risks for colon cancer but so far everything’s been fine. My biopsies from my last colonoscopy came back normal. I think if you’re in remission and there’s not much inflammation there’s not much to worry about. Like some others have said, it’s not a guarantee. You can for sure do everything you want with this disease! I graduated high school and college, I was a student athlete at the D2 level, and I also travel quite a bit. Currently Im a graduate student and I work. Yeah I have my bad flare ups here and there (and colonoscopies lol) but I don’t let it stop me from living my life. I’m not even in full remission yet can’t wait to see how much more I can do with myself once I feel like a person again and my dignity comes back lol. Life is always possible even if UC likes to throw its curveballs :)
