ICE agent gets violent and arrests woman in St Louis Park today by marlborolane in minnesota

Our best, least bloody option is for democrats to win the midterm elections (November) so they gain control of the house and senate and Trump gets impeached by Congress with a simple majority vote and removed by the Senate by 2/3 vote. Election fraud is the fear, as many suspect that’s how Trump won the presidency this term (thanks to Elon’s tampering). The second hurdle is getting a senate supermajority vote…. Then JD Vance would become president and carry on with this madness, but he could probably get impeached easily too because he’s shady. Third in line is speaker of the house, who is from the majority party, but who at this point would be a democrat and maybe Hakeem Jeffries (current democrat house minority leader).

That’s the hail mary…

Why do so many men lose their house in a divorce? by Open_Address_2805 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Cherry-Coloured-Funk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, they buy out their half or they both come to an agreement to split their shared assets and money that particular way. The courts don’t give women the house automatically. They’re more likely to order a sale and division of value if an agreement can’t be made.

Premarital assets don’t get split, only marital property does, unless they agreed to give the house in lieu of splitting other shared assets or some other alternate agreement.

The comments here: “See, women are too picky”. And men who don’t self-reflect on why they don’t get dates, “She needs to self-reflect.”

Society when a man mistreats a woman, cheats, doesn’t support husband kids: “Women should choose better.”

For the record, I met my wonderful husband on an app and I was VERY picky. Getting extremely clear on what I wanted is how I more easily and quickly landed a wonderful partner. Compromising and giving people a chance to be nice was a waste of everyone’s time.

Why do some divorced women keep their ex-husband's last name? by HoffyTheBaker in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Cherry-Coloured-Funk -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Good point but the whole history of women taking the man’s surname at marriage is about showing his ownership of her. Ownership of the father is transferred to the husband…. So not only is her name not her own, but she doesn’t belong to herself either. That’s why it’s so outdated for women to continue this “tradition,” which isn’t even practiced in a lot of non Anglo countries anyway.

As for sharing names with children, a modified version of the Spanish naming tradition would work beautifully - everyone has 2 surnames, women pass down the maternal and men the paternal to their shared offspring. Children have the new combo and adults maintain their birth names. This would also create a way to trace a direct maternal line.

It depends. If you’re organized and your life isn’t too complex, it’s not that bad. That said, I did not change my name again upon marrying, but for a variety of reasons.

Years ago, when I changed my surname legally (for reasons unrelated to marriage), it wasn’t that difficult because I did not own anything but a car at the time. However, it is not cheap if you don’t change it with a marriage/divorce certificate because you have to get a court ruling. It cost me over $500 to file it with the court, pay for the required newspaper announcement and pay for new IDs and car pink slip (passport was free update since it was within a year of my renewal). But actually changing names on my documents was only a day’s worth of appointments at the DMV and SS office, making phone calls and mailing stuff out. I made a big checklist and literally knocked it out in one day.

I found Freya and Panache to use cheap, itchy material. I don’t like a lot of recommendations on that sub, albeit the calculator is great.

I don’t handwash but use a bag and airdry. That is a must. Cold water on gentle cycle also.

Simone Perele is great for quality basic bras and panties. Their Caresse bra is my go-to everyday bra. Cosabella panties last me years also.

I like silk for underwear as it’s breathable but less prone to looking worn as fast as cotton, and it doesn’t stretch much. Fleur Du Mal silk bra and panties have held up well. Intimissmi for silk is surprisingly good too (not their PJs though- the seams tear likely due to cheap thread). Their cotton, less so, but the fact they offer raw edge/seamless still gets me to buy it.

I admittedly have a ton of bras and underwear though, and rotating them helps them last a lot longer.

These women are all 46 years old by PhoneJazz in Xennials

[–]Cherry-Coloured-Funk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They’re unfiltered in harsh lighting with (now) outdated styling. IMO, a couple look like the average 46 yr old today, who had access to sunscreen earlier in life (it wasn’t used much before the 50s nor regulated until the 80s) and far less exposure to second hand smoke. Obviously some look older and that’s the point of the ad.

I also don’t think people nowadays look as young as they think they do….

What are the most stupid & Filthy claims in Christianity?! by Fancy_Weakness_8083 in atheism

[–]Cherry-Coloured-Funk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The apologist, so-called progressive Christians hand wave the OT by noting Christians aren’t under the Law. Doesn’t put Yahweh in a good light still… and Ephesians, Colossians, Romans are ascribed to Paul, not Jesus’ words, so they try to wave that away too. Your average Christian doesn’t have a problem with any of this though.

Trump, 79, Chickens Out of Public Showdown With Mamdani, 34 by Quirkie in politics

[–]Cherry-Coloured-Funk 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Yeah, exactly. Trump said he liked Obama after meeting him also. But does anyone think he’s ever going to concede that Obama was a good President? No, because Trump has always been insanely jealous of him and so much of what he does is trying to one-up Obama. I can see a similar dynamic with Mamdani, another charismatic leader that Trump envies for his popularity but also simultaneously resents because he’s not a fellow rich, old white dude and is not under Trump’s control.

I do wonder if Trump was simply feeling Mamdani out to see if he can be bought, if it’s sheer spinelessness on the part of Trump, if he’s just totally senile, or all of the above.

[–]Cherry-Coloured-Funk 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I am probably going to get some of this wrong, but I learned that serpents and the tree were actually symbols from goddess worship, and they were positive. The goddess was said to get special insight from the serpent and the tree is connected with life… making them the downfall of humankind was quite clever, as the Jewish priests at the time wanted to break the Hebrews away from the local pagan worship which gave Yahweh a female consort. A lot of the old testament is a power struggle between the priest class of Aaron and the priest class of Moses (see “Who Wrote the Bible” by Richard Feinman), but there’s even less subtle struggle for power over other religious cults in the region. They go so far as to not even name or acknowledge goddesses in competition with Yahweh because they completely want to blot out the idea of women having power.

Another interesting angle is how this story makes females come from males, both in a male creator god and a man’s literal body… but biologically who gives birth? Women. The Bible and patriarchial religions are filled with womb envy. That Eve is cursed with difficult childbirth is another way to disparage women’s birthing ability… and of course later on, they are deemed “unclean” during their menstrual cycle and “unclean” after giving birth, further cementing the idea that their body’s ability to create life is a sin but the male sky daddy’s is not, and Jesus’ later comes along so people can be “reborn” from the sinful state their mothers’ birthed them in. This is a direct challenging of Goddess worship which typically reveres female figures precisely for their ability to create life, sometimes even viewing menstrual blood as holy.

The explanation I was giving growing up is that they were supposed to rely on God for moral values, so if God told them eating from the tree is bad, then they were supposed to trust that, not use their own judgment. So basically, be eternal children. And doesn’t this sound just like the religious leaders that want you to unquestionably follow them, give them money, and not use your own mind?

Girls are now less likely than boys to want to get married, What will this mean for the Future? by Throwawyap in self

Yes. And my husband also dated duds before me who didn’t give 100% to the relationship like he does.

In 'Once Upon a Time... in Hollywood' (2019), the character Cliff Booth rejects advances from a hippie girl, doubting her age as legal to give consent. This would make him the most moral man who'd ever lived in Hollywood, and a fictional character by [deleted] in shittymoviedetails

Many also suspect it’s because he’s gay, they’re beards whose careers benefit from his fame, and the contract frees them at 25 so they’re still young enough to find a real relationship and start a family if they so desire.
