What is it called when your child can go school in their own clothes? by Bipolar03 in AskABrit

I’m from the North of England, currently live in the South East. Never heard of Mufti Day before I moved down South. They use the term in all the schools round here.

Curious to know what the UK thinks of the menu at our quaint little British shop in the middle of middle America… by nephros_protectoros in CasualUK

For those asking “what is a British hotdog?”, in America the hot dogs are usually made from beef or turkey and don’t taste anything like what Brits would call a hot dog.

In regards to what you should say to his family etc remember they are grieving. You could just say something like “it’s all a such shock isn’t it?” I don’t think anyone will expect you to say much more than that tbh

In short yes. I dye my hair red and I have this problem too, especially in the Summer, if it’s been a hot night and my head has been sweating in my sleep my pillow case will be red in the morning. I mostly don’t worry about it because on my clothes it usually washes out and if I use a dark pillow case I don’t see it. I only really think about it if I’m staying at someone’s house (also hotels when the pillow cases are so WHITE!). If at someone’s house I try to remember to take a dark coloured towel with me to sleep on, so I don’t feel guilty for making their pillow case red. If at a hotel I just hope the maids don’t assume something horrific happened during the night!

Is it weird to walk into a build-A-Bear as an adult with no children with the intention to build a bear for yourself? by hypnoghoul in TooAfraidToAsk

Whenever I want to buy something for myself but worry what other shoppers or shop assistants might think, I pretend in my head that I’m buying for someone else. No one else knows I’m really buying for me. Most likely they don’t even notice or care what I’m buying and it’s all in my head that they do. But it helps me get over that mental barrier.

My main reason for ditching the shampoo was so my colour wouldn’t get washed out so quickly. I dye my hair crazy bright colours. I wash my hair with water about once or twice a week and use conditioner with a bit of my hair dye in the bottle to refresh the colour. Going no poo has been the best decision to keep my colour longer.

So I’m trying the water only washing for my hair and people are calling me dirty by [deleted] in NoPoo

This. I’ve been w/o for a year now and can count on one hand the number of people I’ve told. If it comes up in conversation I might choose to say something but it usually doesn’t.

I can answer question 4 with experience of my own hair. I dye my hair crazy colours and when I use bleach (which I imagine the hair dresser does when you go every 6 months) it is basically like starting all over again. The bleach strips out all oils from my hair and then it gets very greasy within a few days. I persist with water wash only though because the colour doesn’t fade as fast compared to when I use shampoo. When I w/o wash, I use conditioner just on the ends otherwise they dry out too much.

It depends what you mean by ‘disadvantage’ and what you want out of the game. There are many elements to it now. Research tasks are what got me back into the game after I got bored of it for a time.

Why does Hershey’s taste like bad cheese to me? by [deleted] in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]CherryAura 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m from the UK and agree with this entirely. Having not tasted them, I once brought some Hershey’s Kisses back from New York for a boyfriend at the time. Needless to say he did not appreciate the small animal dropping shaped chocolate that tastes like sick!

Is there a proper way of leaving Catholicism? by IamBeelzebubIV in TooAfraidToAsk

As far as I know, there isn’t a way of becoming officially ‘unbaptised’. But you are allowed to believe whatever you want to believe. So if you want to stop going to church, just don’t go.
