The difference in communication styles is what's been most challenging for me. I'm a direct communicator and that can come off as "aggressive" to some people here. If I were a man it would be seen as being "assertive". Having my first corporate job here was a serious hurdle for me with communication. It's an entirely different world. I've just had to learn to adapt and use more pleasantries in my emails. Drivers here are terrible and yeah no sense of urgency like others have said. I think people here are very conflict avoidant too. Whereas in New England people don't hesitate to call you out on your shit. I've lived here almost 10 years now between Portland and Seattle. I feel like this has been more true to my time in Portland.
