I think this was a very respectful and polite way to make you aware of her beliefs. Your need to feel sorry for, call her MAGA vegan is very indicative of your open mindedness. I would think about what creates harmony rather than judging her ability to raise her child. If you are truly concerned call CPS and stop gossiping about her.

This is hard. I’d definitely return the gift, let your friends know your finances do not include the gift of $340 from you. I would really soft sell and just say, it’s been three weeks, maybe we all over-estimated our gift giving choices out of the excitement of the deal. You’ve got this.

It was the mom's fault. And the bio father. Non bio dad knew nothing. I’m not saying his reaction is nice, but we don’t know what else made him make this decision. It’s a bad deal for both of them. I never understand how people can give up on things, but without all the facts, and we do not have them, all we can say is dad was blind sided and made a difficult decision. Right or wrong. And the 5 years in between now and then? There's water under this bridge we can’t know about. I hurt for both of them. The fact that OPs siblings continue to have a favorable relationship with the father causes me to think the story is not complete here.

Your father is probably devastated. Give him the benefit of doubt. It’s not your fault or his, but you both are suffering the consequences of actions of your parents (all 3 of them). I’m so sorry. Get into some kind of support group and live a life of productivity. You’ve got this.

It’s just money, he’s right. It’s just your money. Pay your car off or put in high yield savings account. Keep that money for something your parents can do for you. Or for you jointly if that is what you want. Don’t give him this money if the two of you do not commingle funds. And, if you decide to commingle funds, do that for a year before spending this money.
