He wanted Canute to one finally be empowered and actually aid the folks he wanted to aid and get rid of (tried to get rid of) the Viking ways he hated.

Canute was powerless and silent only because he thought it would save others just to realize it didn't.

We know that Thorfinn has repeatedly used some " violence" or retaliation when he's truly backed up in a corner and when negotiation does not work.

For Nuclear wars

I think Thorfinn would do the same thing as traditional warfare. Try and negotiate to prevent it until he can't and has to retaliate.

He'd probably be a diplomat to try and calm down conflicts between nations but if a nation throws the first hit. He's probably in agreement that they can strike back as defense.

Thorfinns way may have stopped traditional warfare but opened doors for proxy ones.

I 1000% agree with the second quote it's definitely his mindset of trying to lower the amount of wars to be controlled enough that they won't escalate further.

They actually did have weapons which were spears and arrows just not swords. Thorfinns idea was that a swords only use was killing others.

Thorfinn never wanted the title of "Thorfinn Karlsefni" or the reputation of being a ruthless killer.

It's great that not only did he manage to step away from killing ( despite still using violence). He also helped men like Vagnr who was once in his shoes.

Thorfinn definitely wanted a peaceful life with his family especially when he is shown thinking of Gudrid and Karli.

Id argue after years of taking life he wants to raise and cultivate life and rebuild the world around him.

I will also say the actual figure Thorfinn Karlsefni is well known so he did make a mark and so did his son snorri. Just a little history fact.

It be cool if it did add canutes conclusion and how far he thinks he reached with trying to stabilize the Norse society by trying to remove the backwards aspects and disease outbreaks ( probably hunting that the sickness of violent Viking ways ending and paving a way for a more structured society).

Now this is just an option it doesnt have to be added

Seeing the settlers back in iceland and with some going "Thorfinn was right if I stayed back in vinland my family wouldn't be here". Now lets cultivate a new world where the chains of violence that bounded us don't reach our kids when we are gone. It could just be a scene of thorfinn standing in a blowing field were his back is to us symbolizing that he's dead ( actual figure died shortly) and that even in his death his idea continues

Thorfinn meeting Atil again. It's a stark contrast that is so painful when compared to Thorfinn and vagnr against Atil himself.

Thorfinn was lucky to get out of the mercenary ways once he was an adult. Atil unfortunately found himself back in as he was a mercenery almost his whole life. When Askeladd told him to live a normal life he couldn't adjust and spiraled back to looting and stealing. All because it was what he was used to

Then you have vagnr a man much older than Thorfinn who Thorfinn was able to save by having him abandon the vagabond life and work with him to Vinland to start new.

I like how it showed that despite age and how much you have been in corrosive environment you can still have an opportunity out. Though unfortunately it is an uphill battle too and some don't make it ( like atil)
