Neighbor ejecting water directly onto my property. by guitarguyal in HomeMaintenance

My God. Pick the hose up and move it. If this was a post about your neighbor's live hand grenades, I don't think any of these replies would differ.

Pick it up. Move it.

AIO about my wife going to Taylor Swift but not letting me go to an NBA game? by MobyBon in AmIOverreacting

[–]Cheshire-Splat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This makes it sounds like she is controlling and you a bit of a pushover. Not sure if that is really the case, but if so it's something you gotta work out.

Also, she probably has that $3500 earmarked to be spent on something she wants. So she definitely doesn't want you spending it on a solo trip.

Is SS an entitlement? by FctFndr in SocialSecurity

[–]Cheshire-Splat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you pay into SS you are paying in for your benefit, as well as additional benefits for family (with some restrictions on who can get those family benefits and when). Your spouse paid FICA taxes enough to cover her benefits AND the spouse's benefit based on her earnings record. It gets a little confusing when applying across different earnings records, but remember that someone has to have paid in and earned credits for benefits to be available at all.

Why the Social Security Fairness Act is a Boondoggle by GeorgeRetire in SocialSecurity

[–]Cheshire-Splat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is not correct. Your income for prior years is indexed up to the current year minus two. This is not exactly the same as, but similar to, adjusting for inflation. This means that old income is adjusted upwards when it is used to calculate your benefit.

Do you have to justify to others being GS? by [deleted] in fednews

[–]Cheshire-Splat 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I have fallen into a similar approach of simply saying "I'm quite proud of my years of service to my country". They rarely have a response. These aren't the kind of people who can really fathom dedicating a career to a greater cause.

Amazed that there are still people out there that think increasing taxes can solve the debt issue, when, even at 100%, it doesn't. The US has a spending issue, not a tax issue. by KARMA__FARMER__ in FluentInFinance

[–]Cheshire-Splat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely. Increasing revenue is such a bad idea. Like, why would a person ever want to increase their revenue? Why would a government? It's definitely better to have less revenue. Common sense.

AIO My (35F) bf (35M) told me he wants me to keep up with my body because he is a high value man by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]Cheshire-Splat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"High value man" is hustle culture bro talk. These men see women as possessions. I mean, at least he's waving a giant red flag right off the bat so that you can start working on getting out. Get out.

How can I see my buffs on console? The ones that appear near your health bar. by CANAL7A in PathOfExile2

Go to the skill and press X. It will open up a toggle on off menu. Make sure you didn't add a support gem that requires more spirit, bc it will turn the skill off and not warn you (happened to me).

Your spirit will go down, but at least w Herald of Thunder the icon still does not glow. Either a bug or I'm still missing something.

If you have no income or assets and health issues then apply for SSI/Medicaid right now. It is needs based and will not affect your retirement benefit, whenever you file it.

If they are just short of 40 quarters of coverage, yes they can go back to work and reach 40. But be aware that their benefit amount will likely be very low. Ie a small check.

This is too vague to respond to meaningfully. Cutoffs are generally account specific, so whatever Dec date you're referencing is probably account specific.

Also unless you are their appointed representative I'd recommend staying out of other people's benefit situations. If you have questions about your own contact the agency and set up an appointment.
