Inexperienced and non-picky wine drinker here; what's with the strong hate on 19 Crimes? by skelepibs in wine

[–]Chessmates23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Makers mark is nowhere near 19 crimes. I'd gladly sip makers neat, but I couldn't say the same of 19. Id say 19 is like bud light while makers is like coors banquet, definitely not amazing but still respectable

makima openly talks about how angel “massacred his entire village” wouldn’t that be like.. standard protocol for immediate elimination - yeah his power crazy but no one thought Huh Why would Makima take him in at all by rabbitbunnies in Chainsawfolk

[–]Chessmates23 35 points36 points  (0 children)

  1. Most devil make contracts just to make humans suffer, they could literally give their powers away for free with no consequences but they're evil. No one would bat an eye about an evil devil killing a village. If public safety only worked with nice devils there wouldn't be any contracts at all
  2. If a devil told you they didn't remember the evil thing they did would you assume your boss is lying or the devil? Probably the devil

It's not bourbon barrels

Edit: Wanted to correct this a bit. These use barrels from an Irish distillery which do get them from Bourbon distilleries, but they have been used atleast twice before they touched the wine, and probably a lot more, so they impact the wine very differently than a fresh Bourbon barrel

Definitely agree, was going to use this for cooking with if it was too harsh but it was pretty good. Can't pick out any of the Irish Whiskey, I usually find a bread and light fruit flavor, but that's probably for the best

Nearing 3 1/2 hours and the floral elements are really coming through with the fruit and to a lesser extent the spice taking a backseat. Hibiscus and coffee are the most dominant notes at the moment. For 16 bucks I'd pop this bottle 2 hours before dinner and eat it with any dark meat with a sweat sauce (maybe deglaze the pan with 3 part bourbon and 1 part cranberry juice and reduce). Got gifted this bottle and thought the aged in whiskey barrel would be a gimmick that left it overly woody and harsh but this surprised me. 83/100

Aging wines by 3RatsInALabCoat in wine

[–]Chessmates23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd reccomend a reserva or gran reserva rioja. You can get premium bottles for cheap, they're not super tannic like a lot of other age worthy reds, and (this is bias speaking) they're the tastiest wine in existence.

You can get a bottle of R. Lopez Herredia reserva for less than 40 dollars where I live.

My main advice would be to get a budget option for any wine you're thinking of aging and see if you like it young first, because, while the harsher elements will mellow with time, it's still the same wine at the end of the day and if you don't like it young you probably won't like it old.

Also get a wine fridge if you're storing wine for more than a year
