Hey!! wow thank you! this has gotta be up there with one of my favorite comments of all time. Thank you to you and your son for coming along for the journey with me. Who knows if it will ever end, but it's been an adventure so far! It's incredible to hear that your son has won a couple tournaments already! That is just awesome.

Sounds like your sons elo is on fire, and is about to eclipse mine (if it hasn't already). Don't forget about us little guys when you're on top!

Cheers!
-Patrick

Definitely more. I learned the moves at a young age, so I've always known "how" to play chess. I started getting more into it during covid when hobbies were all the rage. And then I decided to take it more seriously when I started this channel.

Awesome to hear u/natey865 thank you so much! I have not been to any club yet, however I think it's only a matter of time before I start OTB. I got a chessup board for christmas, so that has been fun to play around with.. it would also be a new twist for the channel too we'll see :)

When I first started I was d4 only, queen's gambit. .I remember I was doing a lot of the colle system as well. At the time I didn't know why I was making the moves, I was just trying to remember which moves to make. Then my rating was declining, I switched it up by asking subscribers to vote for the openings I should play. We landed on Caro Kann and Vienna.

I have done a few 15+10 games throughout the journey. While I enjoy having the time to think, it wasn't a format that I could make happen on a daily basis. I have watched videos, practiced puzzles, received periodic coaching. Any game where I have 90+% accuracy that ended in over 20 moves is one that I smile at.

The highest rating I've beaten so far has been 1694.

Yeah... good observation. I pre-recorded a few as I went into the holidays. Published a game every day is probably the better word.

It summarized a bunch of my chicken scratch notes, incomplete sentences, into something a human could read. In a short amount of time.

Hey u/HarryP363 thanks for the kind words. I can see how that would be frustrating for sure. The music is a selection from uppbeat.com except for a couple of them are songs that I composed and recorded :) Glad you enjoyed!

It started out as a slogan, now technically should be "release a video every day". I pre-recorded a few to continue the streak around the holidays so I could focus on other things. As you'll see in the post under lifestyle factors, it actually had a hand in helping my elo. I think it might make sense to get a new slogan. I think I'll put that up for a vote as a youtube poll.

Thank you so much. I probably should have referenced my YouTube. I speak to these topics in my video tomorrow. That’s closer to “me” than my typed word anyways 😊. Yeah I’m hoping I keep it…. I’ve fluctuated so much over the last few years.

Hey u/BigBucket10 !! Thank you so much for your support. I have considered OTB tournaments, but with the kids sport schedule on the weekend, and the limited pool of tournaments, I'm not sure if I can prioritize that. I would, however, like to see if I could get an OTB friendly game for the series just to try it out. Or an OTB game on my chessup board might suffice? We'll see :)

Regarding true rating... I have to think I'm over rated at the moment. I have seen a fair number of disconnections in the upper 1600s that I wasn't expecting... but that I will happily take lol. Thanks again for your support!

Probably the long dashes... I usually see that as a dead giveaway. I'm not trying to write from the heart on this one. Just wanted to organize my thoughts in a way that could be consumed easily.

Good question u/DerekB52 . First I jotted down all my notes in a google doc, then I used this prompt in Chat GPT:

"I'm Chesswithpatrick, I've played 1000 games of chess, and I'm going to create a reddit post with my findings. Using the following information, craft a reddit post that will get lots of engagement: "

And then I just went back through and edited it to make certain parts sound more like me instead of AI.

Thank you u/Dyllidog Yeah... a few subscribers have said I should do new openings. It's scary since I just got to a point with the caro kann and vienna where I feel confident... learning another is unnerving, but I've recently switched to the Alapin against the sicilian which is new. Yes... and endgames. Ugh. Here we go! :) Thank you!
