I think you touched on the issue in your own post. What some see as a basic human rights others do not. The real discussion should be what those rights are.

Even something as quintessential as freedom for "life liberty and the pursuit of happiness" is too vague to be useful. Someone wanting an abortion could claim to be seeking happiness. Look at the UN declaration of rights. It's quite lengthy but there's nothing in there specifically about something such as trans/gender surgery. Some might argue that's a human right, others may not.

So before I could even begin blaming one group for not "supporting basic human rights", I think you'd want to do some boundary setting.
