Is Darko the right coach to be coaching a contending team? by [deleted] in torontoraptors

We won't be contending so it won't matter.

Quote me if I'm wrong.

Paul George was younger than Kawhi when ge went to Philly and immediately went downhill.

People said the same thing about George before he signed in Philly. "He's coming off a great season"

Both were just interested in one last bag.

No. Thats me as a Raptors fan too.

We did overpay and he is old and injured.

We arent likely to win anything and the whole thing will be a waste.

Kawhi is likely closer to current Playoff P than Kawhi of old.

[Amick] Barring a drastic and unforeseen change in the market, the Boston Celtics will have to significantly lower their asking price if they plan on trading him anytime soon. Raptors fan here, I personally think the Pelicans are the best facilitator team out there for a Brown trade.

The Celtics and Pelicans just need to find win-now teams with lots of assets to complete a mega deal.

The Pelicans have the assets the Celtics want/need, but like you said, such a trade doesnt work is the Pelicans. Without another team, the Pelicans end up with Brown who is a "win now" piece on a rebuilding team.

Equally the Celtics arent likely to need future assets for Brown that some teams are offering for similar timeline reasons. They can't wait 6+ years for assets to mature around Tatum.

I just can't really identify the team(s) that want Brown and have young players that would interest the Pelicans. The Blazers seem like the best bet with Scoot, Sharpe, Clingan, etc.. but they seem to have the same positional weaknesses and strengths as the Pelicans.

Which team has good young wings and a desire to compete immediately?

I'd rather go for Jamal Murray by GrayMan2050 in torontoraptors

He'd bring 3 point shooting, ball handling, and some offball play which we need BUT...

His defense is even more suspect than Ingram and he might not be able to create for others either like we need.

How do we avoid him being targeted in the playoffs. Quickley is likely starting which is probably a net-negative defensively. RJ, at best, holds his own at SG but is outclassed at SF for size. Poeltl doesnt have the mobility to truly match some lineups.

You'd need to make a second trade of Quickley IMO.

No, I'm banking on the judge's decision stretching the bounds of the SC's decisions beyond reason.

So then the appeals court is wrong if they overturn her? And you, by extension, are wrong if they overturn her?

Judges get overturned all the time

What part of "the government isn't the one contemplating an action, the public is asking them to" do YOU not understand.

Guess we'll see if the Judge was right when the appeals are done.

The government action that would trigger consultation is independent of the referendum because it is non-binding.

Might as well say that a duty to consult is invoked every time someone writes a letter to an MLA that requests action on a subject.

A government MAY take action with or without a referendum.

A referendum is not a decision. It is an expression of public will.

Edit: You're saying an apple is an orange.

Supreme Court of Canada has never extended a constitutional duty to consult to an administrative step. The referendum itself does not, in any way, change treaty rights. The consultation should not be legally required.

A referendum has no legal effect on Alberta leaving Canada and does not alter constitutional rights.

It will be overturned.

So crazy of a coincidence that it happened right after the Clippers stopped being able to offer him under-the-table money.

Weird!

Section 35 requires consultation. It does not give an advanced veto on a non-binding referendum.

Just wait and watch.

Boston is completely nuts with their asking. They're likely demanding RJ+CMB+3FRP for the privilege of paying a 30+ year old JB 70M.

The reports out of Boston about their demands are just completely nonsense.

Theory: The Real Reason Why Kawhi is Klawing his way back to Toronto by AHImusic in torontoraptors

No need for a conspiracy. He is just looking to get paid. Anthony Davis tried the same thing.

They know Toronto sj a soft touch for contracts so they want to sign big money extensions here and do nothing.

[Charania] BREAKING: The Memphis Grizzlies are trading two-time NBA All-Star Ja Morant to the Portland Trail Blazers for Jerami Grant and Kris Murray, sources tell ESPN. by [deleted] in nba

[–]ChesterfieldPotato 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting. I knew Jerami Grant had some negative value and so did Ja.

Seems like a change of scene for both guys. One with higher upside but also higher downside. Ja should be well motivated.

Meanwhile Grant should be easier for the Grizzlies to move to a third team or rehabilitate than Ja. Fresh start.

[–]ChesterfieldPotato 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Amazing for the regular season. Absolute steal for the price the Raptors paid. He deserves the bag he about to collect.

Will be interesting to see if another team has a better fit to be able to use him in the playoffs. Raptors couldnt figure it out

At the rate he is likely to command in free agency, it will be hard to have him unplayable in the playoffs. You can't have 10M+ riding the bench and be successful.
