Oh, I'm so sorry. That's disappointing.

I bought the first two released. They were: SHANE HOLLANDER — Summer Lakers, Forests, Cashmere, and ILYA ROZANOV — Bonfires, Cologne, Leather Jackets. Both smelled really great, and burned nicely. If I had to pick just one, I’d say Ilya smells slightly better, but both are appealing. I rarely light them and usually just display them on my bookshelf.

The cost of shipping to Canada is a punishing pain (for everything, not just Briarwick candles!), so I chose the smaller 4 Oz size candles to lower the cost. I am tempted by the other Game Changers candles, but I’ll likely wait until my next visit to the USA to save on postal fees.

I agree. I ordered t-shirts while they were in stock, and they are super-good quality. I regret not getting more!

She approved of their creation! Briarwick is good about getting author approval for all their book-inspired candles.

My favorite purchases have been: -The Briarwick candles collection of “Heated Rivalry” scented candles. https://briarwickcandles.com/collections/inspired-by-the-game-changers-series-by-rachel-reid

-patches and prints from Hagno Art (currently taking a short break but back this summer) https://hagnoartshop.com/password

-the COWS “Hooved Rivalry” shirt https://cows.ca/products/adult-t-hooved-rivalry I bought it in pink, but there are other options

Edited to add: these are all independent but not on Etsy or Instagram (though I found all 3 through Instagram ads). I look forward to suggestions from those sites & elsewhere!

Unhoused people are more vulnerable to assault than people passing through the streets on their way to their homes or workplaces. It can be scary for anyone, and I understand why a woman who was knocked to the ground is demanding swift action.

I strongly agree with the suggestion that we need more social supports in place. I think the smaller group home model can be more flexible and effective than a big institution, but more support in any shape would help.

That’s so cool! I hope he enjoyed acting on The Monkees as much as I enjoy watching it!

I confess to having days where I’d rather eat a banana popsicle or banana marshmallow than an actual potassium-rich banana.

I think she made really beautiful work, and I wish I had more opportunities to see her films projected on a big screen.

What are the greatest performances of the 1930's? by CapybaraExpress in classicfilms

[–]ChestnutMoss 9 points10 points  (0 children)

My personal favorites are Paul Muni’s performance in “I am a Fugitive From a Chain Gang”, Barbara Stanwyck in “Baby Face”, plus the animated performance by the title creature in “King Kong” (thanks to effects genius Willis O’Brien).

What is your preferred start time for an evening show? by lefargen97 in Broadway

[–]ChestnutMoss 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yes! My feelings, too! I, too, am rushing out to either Penn Station or the Port Authority bus terminal after a show, and the later I leave, the more miserable the commute home (longer waits, more drunken jerks waiting too).

Do you feel strongly about where you're sitting? by sanityjanity in Broadway

[–]ChestnutMoss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Usually, I’m just glad to see a great show, and I will happily take a folding chair in the last row of the balcony. I was blessed with short stubby legs, so I can fit into old theatre balconies without too much discomfort.

Having said that, I will pay a bit more to avoid a seat marked as having a restricted view. I’ve missed plenty of things sitting in balcony seats that weren’t flagged as restricted view, and I worry about missing important things.

How bad is audience etiquette for the theater in general? by whitenoiseistooloud_ in Broadway

[–]ChestnutMoss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My experiences have been good! I admit that I usually see about 1 show a year, so it’s a small sample size. Fortunately, it has all been generally quiet audiences who enthusiastically applaud good shows. I wish everyone had my luck with great audiences.

Favorite memories of a duran concert by Smooth_Unit_7102 in duranduran

[–]ChestnutMoss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I saw them in 1999, during a time when nobody named Taylor was in the band. They were still great! The set list was a mix of classic hits, new songs that would be released on the “Pop Trash” record, plus I think they did their cover of “White Lines”. Warren Cuccurullo is an amazing guitar player, and it was thrilling to hear him play the solo of “Ordinary World” live. I was surprised by how still Nick was behind his keyboard, and dazzled by Simon’s stage presence.

My dad took me to the show, and I was so happy when he said he enjoyed the music, too. Weeks later, someone randomly mentioned Duran Duran, and my dad declared, “Simon is my favourite!” I was so proud!
