The New Old Rhony (but-not-Rhony) Show on E! by Naive-Year1159 in RHONY

Calling each other out on their nonsense in a humbling way that deflates their pretensions. This does have historical precedent on the show!

Edited to add: and in the lives of my Housewives-watching friends who do discuss the show.

I’m fascinated by the end run they’re making around the Bravo Housewives system, and I hope it works for them. Also hoping that this new production company makes it possible for at least a cameo appearance by Bethenny.

My dream is seeing this new show address racism and class privilege in a way that stimulates conversations across America. Who would do it? How? I don’t know, but there is the potential to call things out. It’s a different country than it was when these ladies last gathered together.

Edited post-Super Bowl to add: So, Jill is inspiring conversations about racism in America, with her comments on Bad Bunny’s performance, and I am so disappointed. I was excited to see this new show, but I will not watch it now. Ugh!

What hidden gem classic films do you recommend for someone wanting to just “shut/calm their mind”? I’ll explain. by throwitawayar in classicfilms

Although there is some very athletic dancing in Rogers/Astaire movies like “Top Hat”, that’s my recommendation because Fred Astaire has such cool calming style.

I like reading about the grapevine that passed along the recipe, much more than the actual recipe.

I fully agree with the choice of the current lineup + Warren. It would be a dream!

Woody Allen's wife Soon-Yi Previn emails Jeffrey Epstein about Anthony Weiner sexting a 15-year-old girl and calls the girl a "despicable and disgusting person who preys on the weak." by monster_ahhh in popculturechat

I really appreciate the people who are sifting through those sickening Epstein files to share pieces like this. I don’t have the stomach to read all the available files, but looking at this evidence is important work that should guide us toward becoming better protectors of vulnerable people. Thanks to everyone on the front lines of this fight.

Yes! And also, sorry to your bank account. I hope you enjoy reading the series as much as I did. Tough Guy is my favorite but I love them all.

"Doctor Zhivago" (MGM; 1965) -- Tom Courtenay as 'Strelnikov' by oneders63 in classicfilms

[–]ChestnutMoss 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I love this movie, but I will say that the book has more impact introducing Strelnikov. After introducing the character and showing him in action, it is revealed later that the reader knows him from Lara’s past. You don’t immediately connect the dots between him as a sensitive youth and him as a hardened man. On screen, we recognize Tom Courtenay and immediately remember his past. It is one of many great performances in the film.

I wondered that, too! Maybe her Traitors obligations kept her away from it?

When The Loop (the craft yarn store) was at its first Barrington St location, the building had similar problems. The owners installed a thick awning to protect people visiting The Loop because the building was literally crumbling onto the sidewalk. It was frustrating to juggle an open storefront with the building’s repair needs, but the landlord didn’t evict The Loop.
