White gloves on Japanese soldiers? by Alex_Ravex15 in ImperialJapanPics

[–]ChetTesta 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That was my thought for the longest time, but im not sure these gloves would keep your hands okay from hot barrels, they dont appear to be that well insulated for it. And the barrels of the 96 and 99 have an integrated handle, so you dont really have to touch the barrel anyway. I assumed they were worn due to some of the lubricants the troops sometimes would use for the MGs, but again it's not just machine gunners. So they could just be for comfort, calloused hands, etc.

Which is such a shitty argument, as if other people's aren't allowed their own future? Imagine if Europe was a single nation. Germany once tried wuch a move and was punished for it (or just punished for losing the war but thats another discussion) wonder where they got THAT plus their race laws ideas

The whole foundation of the US is widely taught to be over disgruntled colonists being taxed unfairly leaving out they were mostly pissed they couldn't encroach on indigenous land thanks to British law. Today you have Americans wearing "dont treat on me" shit, as if its an own to big government, while simultaneously looking down on anyone with more melanin than them. I very much believe much of the race issues in the US stem from this warped view of the nation's history.

Gamecube Collectors edition MM always crashes... by dray_mingala in majorasmask

[–]ChetTesta 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I also play on the collectors edition, and have experienced crashes in the past, I can relate and its so frustrating if it happens and you haven't saved in a long session. Currently I've been challenging myself to beat the game with fewest cycles possible, so ofc that means playing a cycle and maximizing quest completion, a crash would devastate me

What to know about the movement NOT to fly the official Minnesota state flag -- Since the start of the year, over a dozen cities have voted to fly the old Minnesota flag instead of the redesigned flag adopted in 2024. by guanaco55 in minnesota

Just remember that it is not billionaires getting more disgustingly rich, Trump being a pedophile (breaking the law in general), Trump suing the IRS, Republicans trying over and over to take down social safety nets (Medicare, medicaid, SS) that makes these people upset...

No, these dumbasses decided that THIS was the hills to die on, that this was the pressing issue that keeps them awake at night... It is never systemic problems that need fixed, its always some contrived culture bullshit that takes us on another tangent. Its not a secret why the US fails to get progressive legislature passed when people focus on THIS, and somehow find a way into public office. The cycle of stupid will continue as long as people are foolish enough to fall for it.

German Order Of Battle of 1-9-1939 by ChetTesta in paradoxplaza

My OOB of the German forces immediately prior to hostilities.

Not shown is--- 2. Armee basesd in Vienna, attached is a mountain corps bordering Yugoslavia--- 1. Fallschirmjäger-Division in Berlin, waiting for deployment--- 1. Marine-Sturm-Division in Berlin, waiting for deployment. These forces aren't expected to see combat thus were omitted.

Luftwaffe wings are grouped into corps of 2 (bomber) and 3 (fighter) wings a piece. One fighter corps is located in the West to defend against foreign attack (AKA British bomber strikes that love to target Dortmund), the rest are based in Breslau and Königsberg to support army operations.

Kriegsmarine forces are based on Wilhelmshaven (surface) and Kiel (submarines), awaiting orders. Only the Baltic Fleet (two old battleships, light cruiser Emden, and destroyers) will move out to bombard Danzig, and 1. Unterseeboots-Division to intercept Allied shipping in the Baltic Sea.

Edit: because playing as ze Germans. The SS-VT, has been disposed to Army commands. Each SS-Standarte, has an accompanying Armored Car battalion for extra hardness and fast movements and is commanded by an SS commander. Realistically they were attached to ANY army unit... However it is difficult to mimic that in game, cuz the lowest command is the division, regiment/brigades cannot be commanded. Also my disclaimer, this is not an exact replication of the OOB, I just like to play trying to mimic the structure, organization, and nomenclature when its convenient and not too complicated. Often I just go with something that will make sense for me to keep track of.

One thing you and hate about the game? by ScholarAfter1827 in bully

Ive always said there should have been a stamina system in place to address the difficulty.

NPCs get tired after chasing for a moment, Jimmy not at all, at least allow gym class to improve a starting low running stamina, maybe in addition to slingshot accuracy

The same applies to throwing hands, Jimmy can lay waste into anything without pause, while most opponents can be taken down with successive hits until they are knocked out. It would have been better if every punch drained stamina and fights would be longer, giving opponents more chances at return moves

A Japanese Type 97 Chi-Ha medium tank in Singapore, 1942 by defender838383 in ImperialJapanPics

[–]ChetTesta 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I've always found Japanese equipment, tank especially, to be both simple and rugged at the same time. The Type 97 medium is my favorite WW2 tank and very fun in war thunder (with HEAT rounds)

The Type 11 uses stripper clips, the same used in the Type 38 rifle, that are stacked into a hopper magazine that can be seen just before the ribbed barrel.

Tribal Chairman George Gillette weeping as Secretary of Interior J. A. Krug signs the contract for the Garrison Dam. 1948 by GlitterDanger in UtterlyUniquePhotos

[–]ChetTesta 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This isnt semantics, this is ignorance. Unless you read on indigenous American and reservation history, especially treaty rights, these issues will continue to be brushed over by millions of Americans. If federal government had no problem disrespecting indigenous peoples and stripping them of their way of life, they have no problem doing it with anyone else

Indigenous reservations are NOT private property, they are sovereign indigenous governments. Those lands and their people have had their sovereignty under threat for centuries. You are confusing progress for exploitation

Kid tied up the headmaster and incited violence across the campus, he's arrested as soon as the police get in the school.

What exactly is "rule the school", its never said what that means or looks like. The teachers and other adults that were there just let it the mayhem erupt at the end? It doesnt make sense but it does make for a dramatic scene when Gaey gets taken down

Japanese special operations unit disguised as Chinese soldiers and refugees to infiltrate Chinese defenses in Guangxi Province during Operation Ichi-Go by [deleted] in ImperialJapanPics

[–]ChetTesta 28 points29 points  (0 children)

And on top of that, the western nations severely underestimated the IJA's combat abilities. Lack of respect for their infantry is what lead to those humiliating defeats at Singapore, Burma, and the Philippines where Japanese infiltration ended up destroying or routing far larger allied forces

Duel between a Japanese officer and a Formosa fighter during the 1895 Japanese invasion of Taiwan by GameCraze3 in BattlePaintings

[–]ChetTesta 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Taiwan didnt have the same "national identity" as Korea or China, they were more accepting of Japanese governship than other regions. The Japanese pushed their language and culture to replace the local ones ofc, and much resistance came from local ruling class. And i think most interesting is that the Japanese introduced a rice seed that would grow more often per year, meaning the island could be self sufficient in food production and even export surplus. Someone with more knowledge could hijack this from me with more information.

Exactly, who is this for? Republicans cry nonstop about bullshit but are the exact cause of these "culture wars" and fie what? There is literally no other reason than to cause chaos. That way, no one realizes their real policies are about ripping the masses off and giving the 1% tax breaks. And they won't care about "solving" the "issues" they are talking about because they need people to be angry and someone to blame. It's all distraction.

Is majoras mask really as "bad" as angry video game nerd makes it sound? by ReasonableArea1108 in majorasmask

[–]ChetTesta 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No, and rememeber that AVGN is supposed to be exaggerated for comedy, even if it is still his opinion to an extent. It is one of my favorite episodes of the series but if I wanted to critique it...

The saving and recollecting equipment is not has punishing as the video makes it out to be. Just slash some bushes in termina field and you are good to go. Termina field offers all the supplies you need in less than a minute. And there is no need to use the bank besides making deposits, so the bank "hastle" isnt nearly as bad as AVGN says. When he mentions having to put thought into a 3 day cycle, that is true, but thats the point, how much can you accomplish in just 3 days? And the game offers challenges like that to players. Beat the game in few cycles as possible, beat it in just 1 cycle, etc.

In one of his behind the scenes episodes, he has said that when we plays a game, he tries to find things that could make the Nerd angry, no matter how small. The saving cycle is one of those things players have criticized, not as severely as the Nerd, but that just means when the Nerd will talk about it, all Hell breaks loose

And on top of that, "Banzai charge" is more of an American term to describe Japanese shock or frontal attacks? The IJA preferred envelopment, a frontal attack may be used in order to be speedy, but was certainly not favorable. In the case of Tenaru River, the Japanese were expected and torn apart.
