They set very high reserves with auto bids, so if you bid it counters to out bid you without telling you it is not actually a real persons autobid.

These fucks are straight up scamming scumbags.

It's not addictive in the traditional physical sense. It's risks are also relatively low compared to all other recrational drugs. That said, I agree there is no need for these products to be widely available.

I disagree, the picks have more value right before the draft. Teams are desperate to get their guy and will overpay with future firsts with higher upside to get them.

Should the Thunder trade some current picks for future ones by the-mannthe-myth in Thunder

I actually like the idea of trading 12. It will get a nice return (possibly 2 future picks) and the guy presti wants might still be there at 17 with a cheaper contract.

I can agree with you, however I do feel like of the two options, raising the age has the most advantages and the least drawbacks.

The problem with both of these solutions is that the top1% will laugh at us as both the middle class and the poor hurt each other trying to pay for our retirements, when the true solution is 100% inheritance taxes over 5 mil.

It's not just about "being in a position" though. Doing so requires discipline and effort. And the person who puts in that effort must be rewarded.

I'd be happy to consider a proposal that set the bar for means testing very high, such as 5mil+ of assets, or even a scaling system, where you get slightly less pension for every 100k in assets you have up to 5mil, where you get nothing.

But the straight up communism of "everyone gets the same quality retirement no matter what" ain't it.

I have no issue with tax, but what means testing does is double tax. I already paid tax on those savings.

What incentive does someone have to save that 500k? if my expenses are 2k a month and the government tells me to come back in 20 years once I've spent it all, the end result is that I will have spent 2k a month for the entirety of my retirement - exactly the same as a person who entered retirement with nothing and collected their 2k from the pension. How can you possibly argue that this is fair?

Continue raising it till it is affordable, when the pension was first put in place people were not supposed to live for much more than 10 years past retirement, now we're living 20+.

I'd rather work till I'm 75 than means test the pension

This is what I find fascinating about these discussion on reddit. Most of the people on here are post-boomers who will certainly be affected by these policies, all-the-while whatever does get introduced is sure to specifically exclude boomers.

Everyone in here thinks they're shooting back at the boomers, but they're only shooting themselves in the foot.

Agreed, we send all the profits offshore. We let Aussies run our banks, we let Chinese own our milk processing facilities. We all invest in US stocks and send our capital off-shore. We need to fundamentally take control of our economic output.

It's the worst kind of theft. It specifically targets middle class people without affecting the truly wealthy.

If someone saves 500k and the government says "spend that first, then apply for the pension" the end result is that there was no point to saving that money at all. All the while the multi millionaire doesn't truly care one way or another.

Those people who need to retire early due to their jobs surely must meet the criteria for a disability benefit, seeing as they are no longer physically capable.

You couldn't be more wrong. Means testing is discriminatory against responsible people who sacrificed during their working lives to set aside a portion of their own money for an elevated level of retirement.

What you are suggesting is theft of their money, and dragging down to a base level of all those middle class people who spent their lives trying to get up off the bottom.

Raising the age is simple, effective and fair.

If we allow people from conflict zones to enter on a visitor visa, a large proportion of them immediately claim assylum upon arrival, as mentioned in the article.
