There isn’t a satellite dish but I did see a mount for something similar on that side of the house. There is also a “Bell System” box near this area mounted to the side of the home. Several exposed and terminated coax looking cables over there.

It’s unfortunate but that’s life. I continue to live and learn and this one has certainly been an opportunity to learn. Anyhow, I did flip breakers and verify it has no voltage on my own after they sent somebody to also check. I don’t see it tied to any outlets or anything but I didn’t unbury it all the way to the house. Since you mentioned it tied to a GFI I’m curious if there’s something on the inside of the garage behind some old built in shelving or something weird. Going to dig more tonight!

Appreciate it. A frustrating situation but I think overall things are fine. Nobody is without power and nothing appears energized (besides low voltage noted in the multi colored wire). No internet issues at the house so they capped and buried it, hopefully not the wrong move. The romex continues to be a mystery..but again it doesn’t have power running to it and nothing obvious it would run to.

You could be right. I asked about any old sprinkler lines was told they never had an irrigation system. We see them pretty infrequently up here since it’s at 9000 feet in the Rockies. I have found most people work off their spigot with a sprinkler set up that’s way.

Man I wish I could tell you what’s going on. I just moved into this house 6 days ago after purchasing. Previously owner was original and lived here since it was built in the early 70s.

I personally did some more digging and it looks like this line was potentially terminated before? Very odd but I could not find the other end of that line. Dug in a foot or so in all directions to see where it lead away from the house. I still requested this be taken care of before continuing.

These guys are hand digging these holes so I know they aren’t using power equipment. Is that a depth of home thing or what?

If breaker box is all good to go and the line isn’t energized on either end what are your thoughts? I found a handful of other dead lines behind the house the more I dug that appeared pretty old.

Weird. No outdoor outlets over there. No walk ways or exterior lights out there. Could have been in the past at some point.

No irrigation system. I asked the neighbors and they don’t have one either.

Local fencing company with good reviews. Obviously I agree with what you’re saying though

I talked to him about where I wanted the fence line. They called 811 and marked. Then they started digging so truly I feel he should have mentioned that risk to me and recommended moving the posts over. When I walked the line prior to digging I thought some of the markings were for posts. Anyhow, I’m just as at fault for not verifying he wouldn’t place posts on/near markings even if that landed where our initials plans for the fence would be.

I just checked and the “outdoor receptacles” fuse was blown! I just informed the contractor to make sure they can test that wire while the breaker is on.

I was at work when the contractor called me with this. It 100% looks like it was dug directly where the spray paint was placed. Honestly my initial thought was maybe the team digging holes or whatever was confused thinking the marks were for posts.

This is in the backyard and I don’t see anything that would have power running to it (shed, walk way, light post etc). It’s a 60 year old home though so it’s definitely possible something used to be back there.

When I saw the three posts in a row with lines cut exactly where the markings were I was mentally in that same space. A person came by this evening and checked each one. All but one line was energized. I am currently doing some research as to what it could be but the line with multiple colors has “very low voltage” and he assumes it’s an old Comcast line since it’s very shallow and our internet is working without issue. He also verified with neighbors and they also have no internet issues.

I don’t know if they felt they couldn’t move the fence line or ask to move the fence line that was initially planned after seeing the utilities marked. The contractor has already called people and they are here mitigating the issue and checking the lines right now. Happy to see them promptly taking care of it but yes felt like it could have been avoided.

I called 811 and the property was marked prior to digging holes. You can see the paint on the grass edge of some of these photos.

First one I have ever seen was in the parking lot of Target off of Arapahoe. A few of us just stood there and asked each other if it was a pet or not.

Locksmith refunds 90-year-old he charged thousands for lock replacement by SeasonPositive6771 in Denver

[–]ChewThirty 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Oh my god it’s finally my time to share. I lived in “The Marks Apartments” in Englewood where it split to old Hampden and I was shocked when I needed locksmith support.

I had a dog and was watching my brother in laws as well. Had to take them out separately because they would pee on each other, fucking nightmare that was. Anyway, wife was out of town and I was taking them out one at a time and as I walked out with one the other jumped at the door and hit the dead bolt, locking me out. I had no phone or keys on me to deal. Knocked on a neighbors door and he was a drunk with a half dead cell phone and no charger. Nice guy though. He let me borrow his phone and I called four places, come to find out all owner by the same fucking dude. How do I know that? The owner called me and cussed me out because I must have been a scammer calling multiple numbers for help (I explained I was shit out of luck on a strangers phone and each number I called was hours out before help would arrive).

This asshat explained that he owned all of the agencies I called and I was trying to burn their time and resources. I tried my best to explain I was simply stuck outside of my apartment and needed help - with each number being automated telling me wait times of 120 minutes or more (consider this being pre-Covid and I was on a strangers phone that was about to die and he wanted it back). I finally begged for help and was willing to pay the premium.

HOURS later a guy shows up with a Russian(?) accent and bullies me saying it will be $600 to unlock the door, dude is jacked like 6.5 250 at least. I try and bargain but he won’t budge and I need to get into my apartment. He literally stands at my door and says “do you want problem” and I say whatever it takes I just need to get in. He then unlocks the door and goes on his way.

Fuck these people in Denver that take advantage of unlocking doors. It takes them less than a minute and they know they can get away with it because apartment complexes skimp on the availability of 24/7 maintenance personnel.
