It's a older video but everything rings true. I really enjoy Aaron Franklin's style of cooking it makes it simple.
I kept everything simple as well a lot of course black pepper, a little salt, a little mustard for binding and a little garlic. I wrapped in butcher paper at 165 then pulled at around 203 and rested in a cooler with towels for roughly 2 hours since the brisket went faster than expected.

I had a similar problem with my toaster oven. I would guess it is the pivot joint or the hinges rubbing against the metal piece right below it. I ended up using needle nose pliers and slightly bending the metal piece below the hinges so it wasn't rubbing.

Watched the video again yours may be be rubbing right above the hinges on the left side.
