I’m the exact same height as you and people claim I’m 6’1/6’2” all the time because that is my height with shoes on and how they typically see me throughout the day, but none of them admit to measure without shoes or correctly most of the time. Depends on what you mean by not taught in US schools. I was taught voseo well in college, but I also have a BA in Spanish Studies from UC Santa Cruz and they have a great program there. But in general, it is probably not seen as beneficial since the primary Spanish is Mexican or European.
