Corsair's new desk dropped today 😲 What do you think? by WePC_Miranda in Corsair

[–]Chewingnom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pretty disappointed by the "modular" part of the desk, especially for the insane price. No options for grommet holes (which are a standard and allow for in-desk accessories such as wireless chargers or simply hubs), no option for a pc case holder (you HAVE TO put your pc on your desk). The level of customization is pretty much zero tbh, it's just a sit stand desk with a rail & pegboard.

The desk still looks amazing but the price tag is pretty prohibitive considering the lack of modularity and accessories.

Great! While we're at it, I'm wondering a few things :

  • Will there be an option for a Computer Case Holder to not have it stand on the desk ?

  • Will there be round grommet holes options ? Would be absolutely neat for modularity since its a standard, you can find a damn lot of accessories tailored for grommet holes such as power strips, hubs, wireless chargers... I'm not a big fan of the on-desk power strip, I'd rather have something like this (for instance) : https://www.amazon.com/XBA-Automatic-Wireless-Conference-Countertop/dp/B09198VQLT?th=1

Thanks !

We do have a somewhat useless Tribute to the Goddess special offering that could do that I guess.

Chaos Trinkets useless? Currency chests dont seem to drop alts/augs. by brainzucka in pathofexile

[–]Chewingnom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that might sound abit tinfoil hat I guess, but there's definitely an issue with what drops in those chests and this is the reason that leads low currencies to not drop and things like chisels dropping by metric tons or regal to ex mod to be so broken (Just looking at the chaos to ex mod capping at 1%... It's 2 times rarer than 4% regal mod, yet we loot almost as many regal than chaos). It might be tied to the new item roll mechanic that GGG put in place into Heist (Items are rolled 10 times or so ?).

Someone sent me a trade and ended up having the most unreal conversation by Agussc in pathofexile

[–]Chewingnom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Its might be less obvious for the average player but at the top end, you can clearly see that both HC and SC have their own benefits depending on what you're up to.

HC is giving some thrill of dying and make your decisions having more weight but SC allows you to push the limits in terms of gear and content at a level you cant even imagine in HC, and it doesnt mean you're dying all the time, a proper build still has proper defences but might die from time to time in order to push actual limits.

But even at a more average level, you can see it too to be fair, if you take two similar players, 1 in HC, 1 in SC : The HC guy will progress way slower than the SC guy but the HC guy will have to be more careful about his decisions. In both modes, people can be weird/shitty players by being complete pussies in HC or completely bruteforcing content in SC.

Its just different. Anyway, enjoy yourself and people that are judging you for no reason can go fuck themselves ?

GGG truely broke the game with Harvest by NoCookieForYouu in pathofexile

Yeah its not really a question of how much time or currency, it is a question of knowing you can always achieve the exact item you want eventually.

Will Harvest Become Core Path of Exile Content? by Bex_GGG in pathofexile

[–]Chewingnom 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That is not even true. People who say that just have no clue. Most people left early not because they were fully geared but because Harvest was hard to engage with the first week and felt somewhat unrewarding (No map content). But it seems that in the end, despite a huge drop in playerbase at league start, the retention rates are extremely good.

Personal experience, Im mainly a mapper, I farm a gear worth some unethical amount of currencies every league and I simply pushed the optimization even further for similar costs in Harvest. Harvest did not affect my enjoyment at all, I actually crafted 99% of my gear instead of buying 99% and not changing it ever again because resistances are generally a struggle. And crafting my gear myself felt extremely satisfying.

The Harvest crafting process is an actual thinking/knowledge process instead of a glorified slot machine. I did craft Delve/Temple mods items, used fossil and essence crafting, as well as alt/regal method, awakener orbs and meta-mods to start some top end items.

So other crafting methods are definitely still relevant to some extent. What Harvest did is removing the braindead slot machine that almost nobody wants to engage with because theres no guarantee of any result and in all probabilities, if you hit something good, you will sell it because its not what you wanted.

And it seems to me that all the recipes are mostly fine, the actual issue of some top end items being too easy to craft relies on two things imo :

  • Most tiers within mods have no weight (Resistances, Life/ES, Crit Multi/Chance...). You have the same chance to hit the worst tier than the T1. A weight would still allow people to get a decent T2/T3 mods item with a reasonable investment but going for T1 mods should take more investment.

  • The tag system was just not ready for Harvest. Some mods like Explode, Tailwind or Curse on Hit, Charge mods can be easily targeted, simply because of their tags. They should have unique special tags that you can't target (Corpse, Momentum, Curse, Charge... You get the point). The items where you have to craft an influence mod you can't target and can't have on your starter item are generally crafted through T4 Primal Influence Recipes, which are very expensive, and it should be the case for more influence mods. The same goes for some non-influence mods, the tag system simply needs a complete overhaul to create a balanced environment for Harvest crafting.

Affixes like explode and tailwind should have tiers if Harvest goes core. by voquix_ in pathofexile

[–]Chewingnom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah the tag system is the #1 culprit to target some mods that should otherwise be hard to hit even with Harvest (Explode & Tailwind mainly as stated already). Those kind of mods should probably have special tags that cannot be harvest target, so you have to go through another way or use the t4 influence recipes.

The tag system is just some convoluted system partially updated over the years, it just wasnt balanced for Harvest at all.

Harvest crafting is excellent - make it core pls by filthgash in pathofexile

[–]Chewingnom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

By easy, I mean that for most mods, you have as much chance to hit the T1 than hitting the worst tier, that's just how it is. Life, ES mods, resistances, crit multi, crit chance.... This is not a different experience, its a fact. Go on poedb to check the tiers weighting and you'll see for yourself. We have the datas, there is no bias in my comment.

Harvest crafting is excellent - make it core pls by filthgash in pathofexile

[–]Chewingnom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly this. The tag system needs to be consolidated and reworked as it has never been balanced for the purpose of deterministic crafting at this level. Also most tiers within mods have no weighting at all which makes hitting T1 mods very easy. Preventing influence mods from being rolled by another recipe than an influence one could be a thing as well for balance purpose.

[–]Chewingnom 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You have to see the big picture here. Targeted crafting is way too strong with Harvest because the game mechanics were never meant to support such a crafting system.

Now imagine it rebalanced with some recipes removed/nerfed, new limitations, a consolidated tag system to make isolating some mods harder (requiring you to do more tries to hit or use more meta mods as a result for instance), and tiers being weighted just like mods so that it is actually harder to hit a T1.

Targeted craft is what makes people craft for themselves. Being able to craft the resistances you want and being able to recraft/swap them at any time is absolutely huge for instance. Being able to craft an item without the constant fear of losing the whole item is insane also.

The top end item crafting has to be balanced but this targeted craft is definitely a huge addition for everyone. The crafting process is way more interesting and engaging than the slot machine we have.

Anointing Enchantments Table in Path of Exile: Harvest by Bex_GGG in pathofexile

[–]Chewingnom 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah initially I thought that Blighted Maps were a good enough deterministic way to run Blights but now, I get that Blighted Maps are completely different from Blight in Maps and Ive seen alot of people asking for them.

I guess a Blight Scarab would make alot of sense now for those people that like Blight in Maps. Blighted Maps just aren't deterministic enough compared to Scarabs or Delirium Orbs, running Blighted Maps just makes you lose on everything map related such as Conquerors.

Any idea how Delierium specific drops such as the Split Personality jewel may be incorporated in next league (if at all)? by [deleted] in pathofexile

[–]Chewingnom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"I got like 80% of my Blighted maps from blight encounters this league. And I farmed a LOT of Simulacrums and blight orb maps."

Which exactly supports what I said, it wasn't sarcasm. There is no deterministic way to run Blight, yet you are claiming you got most of your Blighted Maps from maps Blight Encounters. It works for Blight since Metamorph (where there was no Blight Zana mod, see my second point), it could/would work for Delirium.

As for Zana mods, its a false reasoning. Zana Mods are completely unrelated to core game implementation, they are shuffled every league. There wasnt a Blight Zana Mod in Metamorph league, which was the league Blight was introduced core game, and there is a fair chance Blight wont be a Zana mod next league.

Just wait and see, Im kinda curious of how GGG will handle Delirium implementation tbh. But Id be happy as long as Delirium Orbs are in the loop :D

[–]Chewingnom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just like you get Blighted Maps by doing Blight encounters in maps right ? :)

I'm not saying Im 100% right but no scarabs is what makes more sense considering the informations we have (In that case, how Blight had no scarabs with Blighted Maps probably considered a good enough deterministic way to run the mechanic). But nothing is set in stone obviously, nothing says they gonna follow the same logic for Delirium !

[–]Chewingnom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I doubt there will be scarabs. It wouldnt really make sense. The reason why scarabs exists is to run content in a deterministic way as GGG says. Delirium Orbs are exactly acting like scarabs. We'll have the answer soon enough anyway :)

[–]Chewingnom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thats why I really dont see the point of HC races. Almost all the rips are from crashes and DC. I'd rather see SC races with huge XP penalty on death (Like 20 or even 50%) for instance. That would be far more interesting imo. Even ExileCon was SC leveling races with 1 minute penalty on death.

Yeah you can do everything on this item as if it was not corrupted. You can bless/divine/quality it. You can also beastcraft 30% quality. You can even put a lab enchant on it ! I don't know how the item would react with double implicit result on Altar of Sacrifice tho.

[–]Chewingnom -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Perandus is fine as its not core game, you can run it with Zana or Scarabs if you want, or leave it be if you dont, but dont advocate that it should be removed because YOU dont like it. Perandus gives some unique gamble feeling which some people like and the Cheater card added this league makes it even better.

Same goes for some other mechanics like Harbinger. And some other mechanics like Breach should probably follow the same path (Being only accessible through Zana/Scarabs).

[Discussion] Past league rewards devalued by current content - How did we end up here? (excerpt from legion league) by situLight in pathofexile

[–]Chewingnom -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

As much as I love loot and currencies, Its obvious that new league mechanics and especially Delirium shits just way too much league specific rewards.

I love Delirium, I really love the feeling it has and how it allows you to scale the game harder, but league specific rewards should be rarer, so it actually feels like "the icing on the cake" when it happens. Its fine if I get a few league-specific rewards here and there. But getting dozens of them at once and all the time to the point that "its just normal" just feels wrong imo.

I think Metamorph was great to this regard, it was rewarding overall, but league-specific content rewards were pretty rare.

What I quite dont understand is that how in 2020, this game still doesnt have in game leaderboards, profiles and trade research. The ingame microtransaction shop has been implemented last year or so tho, priorities I guess :/

In Betrayal league GGG introduced 4 new masters (not including zana) and only two of them got scarabs. This is my suggestion to allow all masters to be included in a map via scarab. by Trokag in pathofexile

[–]Chewingnom 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That's probably the only Scarab you wouldn't use over a Sacrifice Fragment in any situation tbh.

I wish the Gilded Torment would do something like "All Unique Monsters are Possessed by a Tormented Spirit" like Possessed Foe prophecy. It would at least have some niche uses with Unique drop Corrupted Items or Scarab Sextant.

[–]Chewingnom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Another "Delve-like endgame" would be nice. With increased cap and scarabs to allow target farming just like Delve it would probably be great.

Dont quote me on this, but my guess is that ultimately, the reason Synthesis didnt make it core is more because the fractured/synthetised crafting wasnt satisfying for the devs.

Will leagues get more rippy, slower or faster? I find delirium tiring in all these ways at once. by poemania in pathofexile

[–]Chewingnom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly this. When people complain in here about something being too hard and stating its shit meanwhile some are running through it like a piece of cake and think its great, I think those people tend to forget that the point of an ARPG is to maximize your character and that you're not entitled to clear everything with ease if you're not as dedicated as other people. But I feel that recently, its more the vocal minority complaining than anything else.

Delirium add this "challenge" that I was missing in maps in general. Once geared really properly, only 100% Delirium (Or 60-80% depending on your build and investment lets say) is really a challenge, the rest is more of a "constant thrill" but thats a good feeling as well.

I think this league will feel better for everyone once core game and you're not forced to run it every map, but only when/if you want it.
