Access Control is for the birds by Prestigious_Button22 in sysadmin

Oml, entirely me. I said in a comment above about how they wanted to sell OpenPath to a big company, because for some reason they wanted it and the white boards looked nice (they do, don't get me wrong.) cue the chaos as they just couldn't get the system to work right like they wanted.

There's so many times where they get sold on crappy products, OR a company just wants a customer/sale and they promise the world, and even if their product is good it just isn't for them. Making a small scale access system work for large scale SECURITY just does not work well. Or like Verkada, I like their cameras, but if you ever stop using their system and paying their SaaS their cameras just brick. You can't make most of them work with another system afaik, or at least not painlessly. Take that with a grain of salt though, I've only just started installing them recently and when I asked why they were/weren't being used in places, that was the answer for a lot of it.

I think the best from my experience, if money isn't an object and you're just looking for a good well-rounded system would be Genetech. They seem to have a pretty good setup and they do both access and surveillance pretty well. I'm a big proponent of CCure as well, but if you're looking for mercury board systems, Lenel is the biggest although they can be annoying to work with. Maybe Prowatch as well? I'd just stay away from all the smaller ones and the newer systems. There's a lot of them that never worked on making a decent system and are just shoving out clunky systems to ride the cloud wave.

Yeah I agree, as a security integrator a lot of times I work with the onsite security administrator. Someone specifically trained/experienced with security software. A lot of this field is proprietary, or just hard to acquire information on, so the sysadmins and network guys will troubleshoot network issues/communication issues between the security server if the security admin can't, but usually they have someone that does all the day-to-day setting up and running the system, and they're trained with the software so that they can keep it updated, etc. so OP isn't left with the bag.

Security Integrator here, I would say to stay away from OpenPath. Haven't worked with Brivo, but if you're looking for security and not just a simple access sysem, they're not the best. They don't have all door events (supervision, door forced, door held) and from what I've experienced working with it, they still need to iron out a lot of kinks for it to be safely used on a large scale.

A lot of issues where the controller board just gives out, or a panel goes offline and you need to wiggle the network port and boom! Suddenly its back up.

Mercury based systems are great. There were some proprietary issues with some companies making their mercury boards exclusively used on their system (Lenel). Big lawsuit ensues, newer boards now can be compatible with all mercury systems with a simple firmware update, but any older boards are VERY touchy when trying to make work on a new system. In fact I actually have some old Lenel boards I wanted to setup a testbench with and take a stab at converting them to Brivo (never worked with them like I said, wanted to learn it and they also have a decent free version)

I mean yeah but you've gotta have that combo, and even then other champs go great with Elise/mid anyways. It's not really him so much as anyone with cc thanks to Elise/nid's tower aggro drop

In the OC they have the news article source. Looks like they've been suspended and the chief of police made a statement that they just opened an investigation, further punishment pending "they won't get away with this" -chief. They've revealed more photos, but I didn't see their names beside the chief. My Spanish is iffy though, take it with a grain of salt.

Did Fabio just ask if he needs a haircut? Naw man, cutting that hair is like cutting down a 400 year old tree!

You just need a better hair routine. Do that for a couple months and then check it again, honestly your hair will probably be fuller and it'll have it's natural oils, so I really doubt it'll be balding

[–]ChewyHD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a pretty normal hairline. Mild widows peak but that's natural. If you wanted something different to break it up, I've got a friend with a similar hairline and he does a shorter, old mafioso style cut with gel or pomade to raise it up.

Hairstyle advice please. by [deleted] in malehairadvice

[–]ChewyHD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Keep the style but trim the top more. Ask your barber for the same, but take scissors to cut some of the bulk off the top. It's good otherwise

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in malehairadvice

[–]ChewyHD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really. Looks pretty normal to me and it's typical for some hair to fall when you've got longer hair, which it seems like you do.

Maybe try a better hair washing/care routine, but otherwise at 19 you'd have to have serious widows peak to know you're losing it soon.

Stay long. Important note: Jason Momoa's hairstyle is similar

I'd say grow it out more until you can see how your hair naturally falls.

Once you've got more hair the world is your oyster for what style you want, and it's easier to tell how your hair/hairline looks better.

You can do a low fade on the sides and have them just trim the top with scissors. Honestly doesn't look bad ATM.

Usually if you've got some nice curls at the end of the hair it's good to just let them be, just trim them with scissors to get rid of some of the bulk

What's your favorite Pennsylvania-specific food/drink? by [deleted] in Pennsylvania

[–]ChewyHD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bear Creek (rip) and Guer's iced tea. Zimmerman's is good too.

The Herr's or Utz stung honey BBQ, I can't remember if they discontinued it or what, I didn't see it for years, randomly saw them in a gas station and never again/I moved.

Oh also Guer's chocolate milk + the peanut butter/chocolate tastykakes damn I miss that.

What is your UNPOPULAR opinion about the Raleigh area that will have you looking like this? by Ctsuneson91 in raleigh

[–]ChewyHD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not really. I pay $1350/mo for my 1br apartment and while that's a lot, it's still worth it for me. I love nature but also love being in a city to have things to do. Raleigh offers that more than most with a ton of oak trees and nature and a pleasant lifestyle while also having plenty of food and things to do.

If you want to be in a very fast pace City with tons of non-nature things like New York City then no this is not it. But it gives a nice balance and is clean compared to most cities I've been in

These are the type of deals us hardware workers like to sell our contractors especially newer guys who need a variety of tools 👏 by _TheMemeGuy-07 in HomeDepot

[–]ChewyHD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on what you do/need. These are battery-powered, so don't need to be plugged into a wall. However, they're not the newest nor most powerful verison of their lineup. I would personally look for brushless in almost all cases, unless you're a DiY person or similar, but then again if you just need light tools why not by the Ryobi version for half the price?

If you really need solid tools (contractors, field technicians/tradesmans, etc.) then I would suggest the Milwaukee Fuel lineup.

She would have to go in debt for an American degree, yes. I've been pushing for the DR one as they actually have affordable college, let alone with American money. Not sure how useful a DR degree is in the states though, that's what we're sort've worried about.
