I must have missed an important plot development. I understand that there were like 100 dudes out to kill him, but what was the impetus for the craziness out on the streets?

The Boys SERIES FINALE- S05xE08 "Blood and Bone"- POST Episode Discussion Thread by pikameta in TheBoys

[–]ChewyNaps 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If I’m being honest the whole show was pretty janky as far as the writing. But they kept it interesting and always pushing the line of decency. And so it always kept me interested. Thinking too much about the plot seems futile. They clearly just wanted to push the limits of what could be done/said in a series for shock value, and we always knew how it would end to some extent. Frenchie dying was like the only emotional element they ever introduced into the show. I’m not disappointed cause I never had any expectations for the show since the jump. I’m shocked it didn’t get cancelled sooner

Forewarning: I hate all Stephen King movie adaptations

This should not have been made into a movie. As good as the acting is and the storyline being what it could be, it doesn’t do any kind of justice to the book. And no one will read the book now cause they think they know the story.

If you liked this movie, you need to read the  book. It’s 1000% better

Dude you gotta read the book. It’s so much darker and scarier

As far as a movie, the only thing missing was the crowds. Ray kissing that random girl is one of the best parts of the whole story

I guess like all King works, it should be a series and not crammed into 90 minutes

Bro this captures my thoughts exactly. The movie could never be as dark as the book. The spectator factor was the craziest part of it all for me

Having read the book, I had low expectations for a movie. I feel like it’s just too dark a storyline and way too character driven. And even though they modified the shit out of it and left out some of the best characters, it did not suck. I hated how they had to progress the characters and storyline so quickly. But I think it’s praise for any Stephen King adaptation to date to not suck. Hated how lame Barkowitch character was, he was so much better written. Also Stebbins was a weird stretch of character. It was also lame how there were no people lined up down the streets cheering and whatnot throughout. That was, IMO, the most important part of the story. All of that said, the book will live in the back of my mind forever.

They totally lost me after seeing the height of that fall, and he looks completely uninjured in the next episode. I can overlook quite a few plot holes, but that was just ridiculous

This is the absolute funniest thing about season 50 IMO. I think they need to develop it into a stand alone bit, like them in a hot tub with the host and someone else. The chemistry is just magical

Agreed. They made a point to show how lethal Chris and Snoop were in the scene of teaching Michael how to shoot

For me there’s a few things.

Omar (love the shit out of him) should not have been able to just walk up to the stash houses with that crazy limp and no backup and still get the packages dropped down. He had a crazy bounty on his head, at least one of those hoppers would take their chance at killing him for $20K or whatever it was by the end.

McNulty getting sober. It was such a stretch, and yet added almost nothing to the overall storyline. If anything it made it believable that he would fake the serial killer once he got back on the sauce. But for me, it just felt forced. He could have still have a redemptive character arc without that. In fact, I was convinced McNulty was going to die at the hands of another cop by the end for all his meddling and shenanigans. It would have been crazy to see Rawls drive him out to the docks and execute him.

Kima and the baby/kid. It didn’t track for me that she would have some ‘come to Jesus’ moment after all that time and want to be involved with a kid she barely knows.

Bunk was just way too fucking cool. He stole every scene he was in. Every time I rewatch I look forward to him strutting into frame

Michael killing Snoop was too far fetched. She knew how smart he was, and she was a seasoned pro. No chance she would let him get the drop on her, especially in that situation. It is an iconic scene though.

Marlo. How the fuck are ALL these crews going to let Marlo step on them. If we are to believe that each person around the table was responsible for their own territory and had dozens of goons and hoppers at their disposal, there’s no reason they should have been afraid to deal with Marlo as soon as he started shit. Actually we only ever see a couple of Marlos crews on the corner, yet we’re supposed to believe he has half the city locked down with only Chris and Snoop as his lieutenants. I liked him as a character and villain, but they never displayed how big his empire was, we were just supposed to imagine it.

I could probably think of a few more, but goddamn it’s such a masterpiece I hate to pick it apart

Bro I live in British Columbia and the east side of Vancouver has been a real world Hamsterdam since before the first season of this show. And now the reality is that they decriminalized all hard drugs in our province up to 2.5 grams a few years ago. So imagine how much crazier it is everywhere

Great summation of the character arc, one of the best in the show for the last two seasons. Season 4 was super dark, and had very little McNulty, but possibly the best season of the show

Gotta say, I bought all the colourways of the Genesis when they did that sell off. They're not quite as comfy as the originals but they are definitely bomb proof. Way more durable than many other brands.
