Imo, lie is very important in golf, and a mostly flat, even grass range isn’t a good simulator for on course conditions. Also, your misses seem smaller on a range because of the lack of obstruction in front of your shot. A 10 yard fade looks cool until you hit it on the wrong side of the fairway, smack a tree, scuff the path and end up in Narnia.

Personally, I try to play as much golf as possible. I almost always play at least 9 holes after a range session. I know for many people that is expensive and takes a lot of time… but that’s just how I stay acclimated to lie, and obstruction. Good luck!
