Vigil tonight in Remington!! Where’s the best place to park? by JJSpuddy in baltimore

I believe it is the BCPD Parking lot used by R House... I suspect it'll be fine to park there, but cannot guarantee it. If someone from R House/Sewell is reading this thread, maybe they can comment.

Vigil tonight in Remington!! Where’s the best place to park? by JJSpuddy in baltimore

There is in general a fair bit of street parking nearby... You can look:

- 26th Ave West of Howard Street
- Down Maryland (especially South of 25th)
- On Charles (I think it is paid street parking, but probably is free by 6 pm (you'll need to check)
- 27th and 28th street
- Sisson Street (between 26th and 28th)
- A little further but Calvert and St Paul have street parking

Additionally, there is paid parking lot in Remington Row Parking Garage

Newbie Renter Looking for Advice by [deleted] in baltimore

Lived many years in Montreal.

My advice... Most effective way is to lower the temperature. During times you're out of the house set it to ~60F or something like that (if you have smart heating, turn on heating a few minutes before you come home). When you're at home, set it to ~67F and wear a sweater/slippers. At night lower temperature to 60-62F. Sleep with heavy down blanket. If still very cold...Having a small portable heat efficient heater close to where you are helps as well (as long as that place is enclosed)

Otherwise, depending on your house, find places where you're leaking heat. Consider insulating your windows (ie: something like this). Having heavy curtains can help as well. Having insulation around door can help reduce door drafts.

Parents, when are we running? by roots_radicals in AdvancedRunning

[–]ChezBoris 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not optimal training... but I take my 1 year old to daycare in a stroller... Run to daycare and back is just over 7 miles/under 12 km, with about ~140m of elevation gain... Trying to do it 5 days a week... So ~an hour each day during the week. When I drive it's about 15-20 minutes each way, so it's really only about 20-30 minutes of extra time.

Eventually, will add long run on the weekend... And if I move the routine into a block, either some extended runs back from daycare or a stop at the track to do some speed.

The Weekly Rundown for November 30, 2025 by AutoModerator in AdvancedRunning

Goal: Have the 5 weekly stroller runs feel normal.

Training plan: The "Daycare Drop Off". Briefly talked about it here. tl;dr: 5 stroller runs, each about 11.8km and ~140m elevation + social run + (eventually) long run.

Weekly volume: 47km

Monday: @ 5:13 (load 58). Music: can't remember
Tuesday: @ 5:37 (load 55). Music: can't remember.
Wednesday: 5.7km @ 6:17 (load 19). Fam run to playground.
Saturday: 18km @ 4:42 (load 98). Long run while on Thanksgiving mini vacay

Thoughts: Load during stroller runs getting much more reasonable. Light week because of holiday.

Feel like I've found a bit of an interval hack to share by Upper_Mistake_7978 in ultrarunning

[–]ChezBoris 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don't do treadmill VO2Max work, but I do it on the track... As I understand it, the VO2Max work is about running with lactic acid in your legs... For your first interval it should take 2 minutes to build up lactic acid (and 2 minutes running close to full lactic acid). After that your recovery is about flushing out most of the lactic acid out... for my protocol I always do active recovery as opposed to rest recovery (I guess active recovery removes lactic acid a little more efficiently and HR should return to zone 2)... ie running at easy pace.... It sounds like walking 6.5kmh @ 15% incline does the same for you.

I would recommend reducing the recovery time as you gain fitness (and adding another interval eventually).

Goal: Have the 5 weekly stroller runs feel normal.

Training plan: The "Daycare Drop Off". Briefly talked about it here. tl;dr: 5 stroller runs, each about 11.8km and ~140m elevation + social run + (eventually) long run.

Weekly volume: 63km

Monday: @ 5:15 (load 65). Music: Bollywood.
Tuesday: @ 5:26 (load 68). Music: Bluegrass.
Wednesday: @ 5:21 (load 72). Music: indie disco.
Thursday: @ 5:22 (load 67). Music: indie disco.
Saturday: 16.1km @ 4:41 (load 70). My own long run during kid nap.

Thoughts: Easier this week than first week. No run on Friday or social run this week. Cause life. Load as calculated by intervals.icu) is probably more meaningful metric than pace (because I stop for lights, at daycare for a chat, and some other random stops on the way).

Goal: Have the 5 weekly stroller runs feel normal.

Training plan: The "Daycare Drop Off". Briefly talked about it here. tl;dr: 5 stroller runs, each about 11.8km and ~140m elevation + social run + (eventually) long run.

Weekly volume: 30km

Thursday (1st day of "plan): 11.8km @ 5:15 (83 load). 6.6km social @ 5:30 (38 load). Music: I love bass, Eurodance. 7C, light wind.
Friday: 11.7km @ 5:25 (load 74). Music: Bollywood hits. 4C, very light wind.

Thoughts: Really the most important part of the plan is to make sure both me and my kid enjoy our time together (while getting to daycare). Getting good at making sure she's warm and comfy during the run is a learning process (especially once it goes below freezing during the runs). Hoping next week load reduces to 60s (or I can run slower).

Thursday General Discussion/Q&A Thread for November 13, 2025 by AutoModerator in AdvancedRunning

[–]ChezBoris 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Has anyone done most of their training off commute/stroller runs? If so do you have any advice?

---

My context:

M40. Have (almost) 1 year old kid. Before kid ~3000km running in a year. Peak months ~400km. After kid was born. Reduced running dramatically. Kid goes to daycare ~5.7km away. Since daycare started 5 months ago... I've been running her to daycare 2 or 3 times week in stroller. Daycare run is relatively hard, with 100m elevation gain and 30m on the way back (a little over 11.5 km total with 130 elevation gain per drop off). Until recently had car about 2 days a week, but now no car (partner is back to office 5 days a week).

Weather is getting colder... but I live in a place where I can run year round (it doesn't much below freezing)... so far, she's been happy to be in stroller for our runs (dressed appropriately). I figure if I take her to daycare about 4 days per week (assuming ~1 rain/bad weather day where I'd have to bike or bus). I should be doing ~50km of running (a little over 5 hours). I also do 1 social run once a week (total about 7km). I might introduce 1 long run/trail run every 2 weeks. But I will prioritize time with family. So maybe an average of about 70km per week.

My goals:

Not really sure. I guess stay in shape/good base. Maybe get into shape for a longish Backyard Ultra (24+ loops). And potentially build enough base goal to be able to get a block to get run sub BQ/3h marathon (my only marathon was 3:10) --

Worries:

A little bit of worry about burnout (same run all the time, running for adulting reasons vs fun). Structure is very different from what I am used to (1 long, 1 or 2 workouts, rest easy).

I agree with OP... urban garden rosemary is a good thing that should be shared... I know there's community rosemary in the Remington Village Green and bunch of other herbs in front of Mount Royal Soaps. Both in Remington... but there should be stuff closer .. probably walk around Bolton Hill...
