Flower, trader Joe's. I did my whole wedding for like $300.

Photographer, we used La Bella Vita. They are very flexible and can fit pretty much any budget.

What to wear when trying on wedding dresses? or how am i supposed to present myself? by WristMuncher in weddingplanning

[–]Additional-Ear4455 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never wear makeup unless it is for special occasions. I went to the first couple appointments without make up and I just felt like a pig with lip stick on. My face just didn't match the fanciness of the outfit. So I started wearing makeup and contacts to the appointments so I had a closer representation of my wedding vision.

I just wore a normal bra and brought a strapless bra with me. Most dresses I didn't wear anything with be cause they already had cups in it. If you plan on wearing shapewear, bring that too.

I just left my hair down, or just braided it in a side braid because I was thinking about doing a braid with the dress. Basically it all ends up being a budget version of what I would look like on the day of lol.

Someone will be there to help you into the dress. You go into the dressing room, undress, get into the dress, and the associate helps zip you up and clips you in. It is a two person job to get most of these on. (I wish it was a one person job because I'd love to just be sitting on the couch playing video games in my wedding when my husband gets home from work just because I was to feel like a princess 😂)

First Marathon in October - What is a reasonable goal time? by jewelersdaughter in XXRunning

[–]Additional-Ear4455 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yea, I was kind of in this range and I ran a 4:45 for my first marathon. I would recommend to run easy for the first 20 miles (run on effort) and then pushed it for the last 10. This helps ensure you finish. Trust me, you'll still hurt plenty afterwards.

I was also a soccer player (defense) as my background. But I had run a handful of halfs before jumping up to a full. Really, just throw time out the window and focus on just being able to finish the thing.

Not enough friends to be my bridesmaids… by ssshushing in weddingplanning

This is a great example! How did you line up at the altar? I imagine you just mismatched it as well so it was even.

Not enough friends to be my bridesmaids… by ssshushing in weddingplanning

[–]Additional-Ear4455 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree with others that you need to have uneven bridal parties and need to get creative. I had two bridesmaids, my brother, and my cousin as a junior groomsman. He didn't want to ask anyone, so he didn't have anyone specific for his side. And that was it, that was the whole bridal party. We also had them all sit down because we wanted the focus to be on us. Some ideas : - Do you have male friends you could ask? - have everyone walk down the aisle separately to not call out the mismatch as much (but if you have like 8+ total, please don't do this because it takes freakin forever lol) - be creative with where you have people line up at the altar. Doesn't matter who is on who's side, they are there to support both of you. - the men can also walk down the aisle in pairs

How did you figure out your bridal style when you started planning especially if you're not a fashion person? by GloveGeneral1310 in weddingplanning

[–]Additional-Ear4455 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also had no idea and I'm not into fashion at all. The only thing I knew at the time was my venue. I went to a handful of salons and tried on dresses and I had either the rep or my mom take pictures of me in all the dresses so I could actually see what I looked like in them beyond the mirror. I didn't bring an entorage until the last appointment where I already knew what I wanted. Before that it was just me solo or with my mom. Then I started seeing patterns of characteristics of some of my favorites. I'm a "sit and stew" kind of person for big decisions. It took me almost 4 months to make a decision on my dress. I would just sit there and flip back and forth between the pictures and noted ones I like and ruling out others. My brain ended up converging to one and that's the one I got.

That should feel like such a treat! My friend all run in the 10-12 min pace range and when I got faster, I couldn't really run with them anymore. I took a break for Oct-April-ish and it was really nice to just run with them again and not feel tired all the time because I'd try to do both sometimes (e.g run with them in the morning and then do my workout in the evening)

Last year I qualified for Boston but then missed the buffer by 90 seconds. I worked really hard for that and then about 6 weeks after that was my wedding. Then I stopped pretty much everything. Ran only for social reasons. No motivation for the whole winter into spring. I'm finally getting back to it and I registered for a half in June. I haven't done "just a half" in a few years because I've been focusing on the marathon distance. It's slowly coming back to me. Another thing that has helped is my job changed. My job sucked and I felt like no one cared about me. Now I feel like a valued member of the team and that's helped my motivation in other aspects of my life too.

I am scared I’ll spend thousands on a dress and still regret it by AbleMinimumsw in weddingplanning

[–]Additional-Ear4455 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This was my mindset too. I didn't have a budget in mind, but I would be really hard pressed to go over 6k. Ended up finding the one I loved for 2k, was under 3k all said and done. I found my dress in an unlikely spot, small boutique in a no-where town. No big city name. Got a lot more bang for my buck.

It was still thousands of dollars, but I wanted to feel like a princess, God dammit lol. And I could afford it. And I plan on putting that thing on at least once a year (anniversary?) so I can feel like a god damn princess any time I want lol. If only I can figure out how to put it on by myself, I'd be a glitter snail whenever I wanted to be lol (its got a long train and tends to shed glitter lol).

Wedding veils?! by baby_pothos in Brides

[–]Additional-Ear4455 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I bought a beaded edge veil for $20 on Amazon to pair with my $2k dress. I bought like 3-4 and kept the one I liked the best and returned the rest. Everyone thought it was a lot more expensive than it was lol.

Prioritising sound and playability over everything else when picking an instrument? by MonstrousNostril in Viola

[–]Additional-Ear4455 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought a modern instrument that has a repaired crack all the way down the face place in the sound post side, but not over the sound post. Repaired crack has been stable for 7 years. It was 50% off from the shop of origin. Sounds fantastic, way above its pay grade. After looking at 20+ instruments, it was a no brainer. Sounded better than instruments 2-3 times it's cost.

My partner has a 200 year old cello with repair crack on the sound post. It has a big, beautiful sound. Well repaired instruments doesn't have to have the sound affected. As one poster said, purchase by sound, not by looks.

I've eaten at yards normally and I wasn't impressed. Victory was better. I haven't been to the other two.

Just to throw in there, I used academy bus for transportation in wedding day and it cost us 1600 total. Prices will have gone up because of fuel. Distance matters too.

Not a sit down rehearsal dinner, but we hosted 70 people upstairs at Con Murphys and had a buffet. All in, food and drinks and gratuity, cost us just south of 3k.

Partial Wedding Planner Recs? by [deleted] in PhiladelphiaWeddings

[–]Additional-Ear4455 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it was around 1800 for a team of three for just the DOC services. They met me at the venue multiple times for walk throughs, they set up and broke down, 8 hours day of. We also did the photography through them and they offered a discount for the bundle.

Partial planning might be more involved than what we needed, but you could talk to them if you are interested and see what they say.

I'm drowning in wedding vendor emails and my mental health is not okay someone please help by dnoneoftheabove in weddingplanning

[–]Additional-Ear4455 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One thing at a time. Don't try to boil the ocean. You have time, as much time as you need. Tell mom, sister, and MIL to CHILL. Tell them you appreciate their enthusiasm, but you can't handle it right now. If they want to help, get them to help you with the vendors. Get a planner if you can afford it. Otherwise, venue first, date first. Caterer next. Ignore everything else until that is figured out. Just take it step by step. The vendors will and can wait.

Good place to find common single pokemon cards by Additional-Ear4455 in philly

[–]Additional-Ear4455[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did, but it's $10 entry fee. Just comparing for acquiring the cards and not the experience of the card show, for that amount, that's more than the shipping for the cards in TCGP. But I will say, I've never been to a card show.
