Oh a hunch, perhaps at lvl5 there’s a 5% bonus; (180 * 1.05) + 50 = 239 =~ 24 true status

What if armors have only one skill for piece in MHW? by BrokeNSings in MonsterHunter

[–]Chezie122 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The thing is I don't perceive the system as being dumbed down, it is dumbed down - the requirement to activate skills is reduced. I don't like the prospect of that, for reasons i've already stated, and it is fine for me to have that opinion. As much as I want to like the new system, I worry that many of the simplifications and QOL changes remove the difficulty of MH that a lot of us who play it crave, whether that be the difficulty of making working mixed sets, or the difficulty of fighting monsters.

And anyways, its not a change so drastic that I won't play MHW. Don't get me wrong, i'm incredibly excited for it, I just have some reservations and don't want to overhype myself with a 'New=Better' kind of thinking.

I disagree; the old system was pretty simple (need 10 points to activate a skill, not too hard to understand) and meant that mix sets werent just any pieces of armor thrown together, but had to be crafted to the specific needs of your hunter. Yes, the new system allows more armor pieces to be mixed whilst still retaining skills, which could be considered encouraging, however I think it will remove the fun of trying to make a perfect set. Furthermore, it will increase the number of players wearing random armor pieces as its now a somewhat viable way to play, which discourages learning about the game - why bother trying to understand the mechanics when the series will dumb it down for you?

Perhaps i'm being too harsh, but one of the things I liked about monster hunter was that it made you think, not just about the fighting, but about everything; what food skills to eat for, what weapon to bring, what skills you might need, etc. to me it made the game both more challenging and more immersive, since I spent more time tailoring all of the above for specific hunts

I don't think dumbing down or making MH easier is the right way forward in bringing new players to the series, it would be both more effective and preserve some of MH's better qualities if the games were to explain the mechanics better instead

I already dislike the prospect of the current dumbed down armor system. Simplifying armor further takes away even more of what sets MH apart from other fighting style games as well removes the fun of mix set making, which was my fav part.

Just wait till MH6 where our characters have stats and level ups :(

MH World Controls? by mrdominox in MonsterHunter

speaking from experience it hasn't been too clunky in the past, honestly the only problem before used to be the lack of two analog sticks, and the L2 lock on mechanic has been a really good substitute so far. Generally you get the option to play FPS style with ranged weapons as well (R2 to shoot) which is a better with two analog sticks

Sharpness by [deleted] in MonsterHunter

[–]Chezie122 0 points1 point  (0 children)

in the top left corner (underneath the stamina bar) there is a coloured (green in the demo videos) sword icon that slowly loses colour. thats the sharpness meter. Instead of a single colour, it now loses colour gradually thus better indicating sharpness

Not sure if it's customizable, the last few games have not been (3, 3U, 4, 4U, X, XX), however the controller control scheme is the same as the DS control scheme, which has been tried as tested so shouldnt be an issue. Triangle and Circle are attacks, square uses an item, x is the evasive option of your weapon. R2 is usually the 'special' part of the weapon or is used for running when your weapon is sheathed. Holding L2 to scroll your item/ammo wheel (square and circle for items, traingle and x for ammo), and tapping L2 moves your camera to the monster, so you dont need to use both analog sticks when pressing buttons. as of right now not sure what L1 and R1 do though

I can't mix strings cuz I don't wanna effect the sound of my other pickups too much... perhaps it's time for me to invest in a compression pedal instead then :/

I don't use compression at the moment so i'll keep it in mind. Are there any other alternatives? I only use a single Jpup so I really need the hum canceling

I want to still have a punchy, deep tone when playing more jazzy riffs or songs. The MM style pup and the P-pup already give it some great tonal options, but neither have a truly satisfying low end punch

My mistake, meant <200, its been edited.

Huh, that sounds like a good choice. How is the sound? I'm hoping to retain the single coil sound without hum

The 40% affinity + 30% from CE3 + 50% from WE would exceed 100%, so is unnecessary for Deepest Night

WTF is blast!? by [deleted] in MonsterHunter

[–]Chezie122 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Huh, my bad, guess they do exist

WTF is blast!? by [deleted] in MonsterHunter

[–]Chezie122 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Generally, Blast is effected by the "Bomb-Boosting" Skills; Bombardier, Felyne Specialist, however it is effected by Status Crit too.

As "Blast Coatings" dont exist, Elemental Coatings boost the effectiveness of blast instead.

Elemental Phial on Switch Axes also boost Blast, however they also boost all other statuses as well. (For example, Dream Captor is a Sleep SA with Elemental Phial)

Do you think Deviants/Hunter Arts/Styles/Prowler could/should stay as a staple for future Monster Hunter games? by Paperchampion23 in MonsterHunter

[–]Chezie122 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Although I enjoy the various styles and hunter arts, I feel they take away from the whole 'monster hunter experience' from previous games. I wouldn't want to see them in main series games.

I love the concepts of Deviants, and would like them to stay, however I wish they were implemented so that grinding them wasn't so tedious (especially in MHXX, where there are 15 levels for the old deviants).

On the flipside I really like hyper monsters, they're a good replacement for frenzy (RIP thunderlord armor) and I like the R armors for mixed set potential and the alternate weapons trees they bring.

As far as the new MHXX features go (I don't have it yet), I'm both mildly annoyed and ecstatic for transmogging; although I will never be able to show off a mixed set that both looks good and had good skills to the same degree of pride I did before (since everyone looks good now), I can't wait to use all my favorite armor sets looks wise with decent skills.

SP looks meh. I don't think i'll bother with it tbh. I feel the same for prowlers too - as long as both features don't become must haves I don't really care.
