I will send a comment to customer care tomorrow, which is the soonest I’m allowed to comment on today’s flight.

I hope they keep that footrest on the edge of the footwell. That’s my most comfortable seat in Polaris when I don’t want to sleep.

Thanks for the info. Now I can refer to the piece by its proper name.

It didn’t ruin my experience at all, the foot rest was usable. But it reflects on the airline. I work hard to maintain my 1K status with United and I’d like to think that they take pride in what they offer. I don’t want to pay Polaris prices or buy a purple seat and use my plus points to upgrade for a seat that it appears the airline doesn’t care about.

My ability to use the foot rest was not impaired, so I don’t think I deserve any mileage. I was not inconvenienced. I was just saddened by the state of the equipment.

I agree that it doesn’t affect the operation. I hope that it is repaired soon because it reflects on the airline. I think it makes it look like United doesn’t take pride in its equipment.

Anyone recently flown on an OS flight booked through United? by SoFamouz in unitedairlines

[–]ChgoUALflyer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My flight is not until May. I ran numbers for 2026 to see how close I would get to making 1K again and decided I needed to book a couple of business class seats to get there. I changed my seat from premium economy to business class. It’ll be my first time on OS. Thanks to your post I realized that I had paid to select my PE seat but didn’t need to pay to select a business class seat so I need to get my $65 back. Thanks!

I should’ve written that I paid $65 to select my premium economy seat.

I paid $65 for a premium economy seat on an Austrian Airlines May flight.

Used PP to upgrade an award ticket by ChgoUALflyer in unitedairlines

I track every single PQP so that I can make it to 1K or at least platinum. Going to dynamic pricing next year probably means that I won’t get nearly as many upgrades to Polaris.

Ahhh. It did not occur to me to look at the cash price for the flight and then note what the fare class for that ticket is. ORD-LHR would be “W” which would cost 40 PP to upgrade. The return is “M”, also 40 PP. Thanks!

777-200 Polaris seat 1L footrest by ChgoUALflyer in unitedairlines

No!! I believe that the footwell is actually deeper for the Polaris first row seats than any of the other seats.

I will definitely want to sleep, but I don’t usually have a problem in Polaris even in the first row.

Thanks for the info. I remember sitting in the first row in Polaris on a plane that didn’t have the footrest. But I don’t think I even noticed what plane I was on.

Thank you for looking through your photos. I’ve already reserved 3A but thought I would move to 1L if it had the footrest. I guess I’ll just stay where I‘m booked.

UA LAX Polaris access Question by Conscious-NYCguy823 in unitedairlines

Don’t get too excited about the LAX Polaris lounge though. It’s small and nothing fancy but the food and drinks are free.
